directly to a Special Education Administrator the Special Education Teacher provides services to special education students with a range of moderate to severe disabilities ages three to 21 years of age. The Special Education Teacher leads the IEP team to develop data driven student learning and behavioral goals. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for developing curriculum and program strategies consistent with the students learning level and to continually assess student progress towards IEP goals. Teaching environments include resource rooms and self-contained classrooms at the elementary middle and high school level.

Assignment/Location:
We are recruiting for a Special Education Teacher to serve Paul Rumburg Elementary School in the Entiat School District for the 2026-27 school year. The start date will be August 2026 and it is full time 185 days.

Regular attendance required:This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive productive learning environment.

Essential Functions:

1. Interpret lectures discussions tests films assemblies and student comments in all school related settings.
2. Interpret communications between hearing deaf and hard of hearing students parents and/or staff members in the classroom at conferences IEP meetings and other school activities.
3. Assist certificated and classified staff to implement programs for students with hearing impairments.
4. Work as a resource specialist with hearing impaired students and their teachers to develop language articulation and academic skills within the school and home environment.
5. Supervise students.
6. Participate in staff meetings inservice programs workshops and seminars.
7. Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Must meet one of the following within one calendar year of employment:
   a. Pass the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a minimum score of 4.0 and the
   EIPA written test with a passing score; OR
   b. hold National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and the EIPA
   written test with a passing score.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

1. Experience as an interpreter in an educational setting.
2. Knowledge of programs and services for individuals with disabilities.
