Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision of a special education teacher assist with and/or provide high quality instruction to students with a variety of mild to moderate learning disabilities who spend the majority of their day in the general education environment
  • Provide services in dedicated classes at (including Learning Assistance Center Literacy Skills and Numeracy Skills) in which a teacher and ESP support up to 12 students with disabilities
  • Support students in the acquisition of academic goals set by the special education team.
  • Provide instructional support through one-on-one or small groups to reinforce lessons clarify instructions and adapt materials to individual learning styles.
  • Collect data related to students IEPs to monitor student progress and inform instruction as directed by special education teacher
  • Implement student accommodations and/or modifications per student IEPs with support of special education teacher
  • Utilize instructional and assistive technology for students as needed.
  • Provide explicit instruction in meta-cognitive and executive functioning skills (time management organization self advocacy etc.) as directed by special education teacher

Reports to: Building Principal and Special Education Program Manager

Salary: Commensurate with Malden Public Schools Unit C salary scale.
