Job Summary

The ECED Adjunct Skills Trainer is a temporary part-time position hired on an as-needed basis to develop and deliver non-credit workforce and professional development trainings for the Ivy Tech Early Childhood Education Department at the Muncie and Anderson Campuses. Trainers are responsible for collaborative planning preparing and facilitating engaging short-term skills training aligned with grant workforce employer or community needs. Training topics may include early childhood education professional development leadership compliance or other specialized workforce skills. Training topics will be assigned.
The Adjunct Skills Trainer creates a positive adult learning environment delivers high-quality instruction and completes required documentation related to assigned trainings.

Major Responsibilities

Training Preparation
  • Collaboratively plans and prepares assigned non-credit skills training sessions.

  • Develops or adapts instructional materials activities and handouts to meet training objectives and provides all training materials to the School of Education Dean as these become property of the college.

  • Collaborates with the department to ensure training content aligns with program goals college course outline of record grant requirements and participant needs.

  • Communicates with department staff regarding materials technology and logistical needs.

Training Delivery
  • Facilitates engaging interactive professional development using effective adult learning strategies.

  • Creates an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and skill development.

  • Manages training activities discussions and assessments as appropriate.

  • Conducts all training sessions as scheduled.

Program Support
  • Maintains participant attendance and submits required documentation following each training.

  • Administers evaluations or other required assessment tools.

  • Represents Ivy Tech professionally when working with community partners employers and participants.

  • Performs other related duties necessary for successful delivery of assigned trainings.

Work Schedule

This is an as-needed contract position. Training assignments vary throughout the year and may include daytime evening weekend in-person virtual or hybrid sessions. Some trainings may be held during college break weeks.

Compensation

  • Training Delivery: $50.00 per hour

  • Training Preparation: $45.00 per hour (typically 35 hours of paid preparation per training)

Compensation is paid only for approved training delivery and preparation hours associated with assigned contract trainings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree (or nearing completion of) in Early Childhood Education Education or a related field (or equivalent professional experience appropriate to the training topic as approved by the School of Education Dean).

  • Demonstrated expertise in the assigned training content area.

  • Experience facilitating professional development workshops or adult learning.

  • Strong organizational communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing training curriculum or instructional materials.

  • Experience delivering workforce or continuing education training.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and effective instructional practices.
