Job Summary

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Specialty: Sterile Processing Service (SPS) - decontamination sterilization inspection assembly and distribution of reusable medical equipment (RME)

Duration: 1-year contract with the possibility of 4 one-year extensions

Shift Schedule (all tours Monday Friday):

Tour 1: 7:30 AM 4:00 PM
Tour 2: 11:00 AM 7:30 PM
Tour 3: 3:30 PM 12:00 AM

Pay Rate: $30/hr on W2

How many shifts needed per month: 2080 hours/year per position 173 hours/month per FTE (each position is 2080 hrs/year; total 6240 hrs/year across 3 FTEs)

Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 8 weeks

Certifications: Must meet one of the following:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or
Certification from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or
Graduate of a recognized CRCST/Tech program 2 years SPS experience or
VA Level 1 certification 2 years SPS experience or
5 years verifiable hands-on SPS experience (non-certified)
BLS certification

Education: Graduate of a recognized CRCST or technician program (per certification path chosen); high school equivalent assumed. English fluency (speak read write understand) required.

Experience needed: Varies by certification path - 1 years if CRCST/HSPA certified; 2 years if program graduate or VA Level 1; 5 years if non-certified.

Special Skills needed:

All sterilization/HLD processes: Steam Sterrad V-PRO Medivator Trophon Cidex OPA
Clean inspect assemble store surgical instruments and RMD; identify/replace damaged instruments
Biological and chemical testing Bowie-Dick tests QA documentation
Support multiple surgical specialties (General GYN Ortho ENT Urology Vascular Dental Robotics Podiatry)
Handle flexible endoscopes per manufacturer IFUs
Instrument Tracking System (Censitrac) proficiency
Knowledge of asepsis microbiology infection control PPE OSHA standards
Physical: lifting standing pushing carts; work in hot/humid/loud environments in PPE

Responsibilities: Perform all duties related to decontamination sterilization inspection assembly and distribution of RME; 95% direct patient-care-related work 5% administrative (QI meetings patient safety reporting); sign in/out within 10 minutes via timesheets and Outlook; submit daily case lists; participate in QI activities and committees.
