The hardest problems are the ones worth solving. We believe that meaningful progress comes from pushing past where its easy to stop and that a team with the right people and relentless drive can outperform even its own looking for highly motivated innovative engineers to join the GPU Performance Modelling Team the group driving advanced exploration of Apples next-generation GPU architectures and micro-architectures. Its a highly visible role at the heart of the chip design effort working across every discipline involved with a direct hand in getting high-performance products into the hands of millions of customers. This isnt easy work but if youve been looking for a place where ambition and craft genuinely matter youve found it.
Every generation of Apple silicon raises the bar for what a GPU and SOC can do: more performance more efficiency in tighter power envelopes than the industry thought possible. As a Performance Architect on this team youll help decide where that bar goes join a group shaping the architecture of Apples GPU and SOC from the ground up researching the ideas that turn into the next leap forward. The work is deeply collaborative: youll partner with teams across software and hardware engineering to pressure-test ideas refine the promising ones and plant the seeds for new ones. Youll dig into the workloads that matter across both todays products and tomorrows categories to find the bottlenecks worth solving and the opportunities worth this role you will:n - Research and propose novel ideas that help shape Apples platform directionn - Prototype architectural and micro-architectural concepts in our existing C performance modelsn - Gather analyze and validate measured and simulated results to identify bottlenecks and evaluate new ideasn - Present findings and recommendations to peers and leadershipn - Collaborate with multi-functional teams to turn ideas into shipped architecturennIf youre energized by working at the edge of what silicon can do and want to see your ideas land in products used by hundreds of millions of people wed love to talk.
Good knowledge of computer architecture and micro-architecture CPU GPU SOC or adjacent domainsnHands-on experience with performance and/or power simulation environmentsnSkilled at analyzing and characterizing complex workloads
Familiar with common data structures algorithms and design patternsnWorking knowledge of C and PythonnComfortable working in uncertain environments and through ambiguitynStrong communicator who can influence decisions and negotiate trade-offs
