Role
We are seeking an experienced Duty of Care professional with deep AI knowledge and practical hands-on experience to lead our global Duty of Care program. The Duty of Care Senior Manager is responsible for the strategy execution and continuous improvement of the companys Travel Risk Management Workplace Violence Prevention Kidnap & Ransom (K&R) program and our Workforce Assurance (backgrounds and drug testing protocols) leveraging Global Security GSOC Crisis Management HR and matrixed business partners. This role ensures Applied Materials meets its duty of care obligations to employees who travel work at or are otherwise exposed to these type risks during company business.
A core expectation of this role is the ability to apply AI tools and techniques in practical day-to-day Duty of Care work from AI-assisted travel risk monitoring and predictive threat scenario planning to automated case triage and intelligent alerting. The position partners closely with Global Security Executive Protection GSOC Crisis Management HR Employee Relations Legal IT Corporate Travel Services Facilities Risk Management and executive leadership to design and maintain scalable risk-based travel safety workplace violence prevention and K&R response solutions across global sites and business units. Beyond individual use this leader will assist in the development and execution of the strategy to scale AI across the Duty of Care function embedding AI-driven capabilities into monitoring exercises and reporting so that the entire program becomes faster smarter and more resilient over time.

To keep pace with this growth the Duty of Care function must scale rapidly across an increasingly complex global footprint and AI is central to that strategy. The Duty of Care Senior Manager directly enables employee safety by harnessing AI-driven insights predictive risk
intelligence and automation to build a program that scales with the business and ensures leadership has confidence in the companys ability to screen and protect its people wherever they travel or work.
This position reports to the GSOC Director and is based in Austin TX out of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). The role requires travel up to 20%.
Key Responsibilities & Strategic Leadership
Lead and enhance the Travel Risk Management Workplace Violence Prevention Kidnap & Ransom (K&R) and Workforce Assurance (WFAP) programs globally in alignment with duty of care obligations ISO 31030 (travel risk management) ISO 45001 (occupational health & safety) FCRA and industry best practices.
Monitor global travel activity geopolitical developments and emerging threats to issue timely travel risk advisories and pre-travel briefings for employees traveling to elevated-risk destinations.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on travel risk workplace violence prevention K&R exposure and WFAP recommending mitigation measures response readiness improvements and incident resolution.
Serve as strategic point of contact for employee travel safety coordinating emergency assistance medical evacuation and security evacuation support with third-party travel risk providers.
Design implement and maintain workplace violence prevention programs including threat assessment protocols behavioral threat management and crisis intervention procedures.
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary Threat Assessment Teams across HR Legal Security Employee Relations and IT risk teams to evaluate and manage reports of concerning behavior or potential violence.
Manage the companys Kidnap & Ransom (K&R) insurance program including policy administration coverage review and relationships with insurance brokers and crisis response consultants.
Develop maintain and lead a multi-layered Workforce Assurance (background vetting/drug testing) center of excellence program partnering with corporate stakeholders and business leaders to promptly address escalations.
Lead incident response and case management for travel security incidents workplace violence threats and K&R events ensuring timely escalation communication and resolution.
Conduct risk assessments for high-risk travel international assignments and site-specific workplace violence exposure partnering with Risk Legal HR and business leaders.
Develop maintain and validate duty of care policies standards and playbooks ensuring alignment with legal regulatory and insurance requirements across jurisdictions.
Ensure alignment of Duty of Care activities with Business Continuity Crisis Management Disaster Recovery and Emergency Management programs.
Lead tabletop exercises simulations and response testing to validate readiness and improve effectiveness of travel security workplace violence and K&R protocols.
Drive continuous improvement through after-action reviews corrective action management program assessments and lessons learned from exercises and real-world events.
Develop and maintain KPIs dashboards and reporting to measure duty of care program effectiveness incident trends and maturity.
Leverage travel risk intelligence platforms analytics and automation tools to improve program monitoring alerting and operational response capabilities.
Deliver duty of care training and awareness programs including pre-travel safety briefings and workplace violence awareness training for employees managers and travel arrangers.
Skills Knowledge Experience & Education
The ideal candidate will have the following:
8 years of experience leading Travel Risk Management Workplace Violence Prevention Background and Drug Testing adjudication and Kidnap & Ransom / crisis management programs within large complex and global organizations.
Established network of industry peers from common security disciplines organizations and professional associations.
Strong knowledge of duty of care principles travel risk management standards (ISO 31030) occupational health & safety management standards (ISO 45001) Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and workplace violence prevention best practices.
Experience managing Kidnap & Ransom insurance programs including policy administration and incident response coordination with brokers and response consultants.
Proven ability to support senior leaders and employees during travel security incidents workplace violence threats and crisis events.
Experience conducting threat assessments geopolitical threat management and risk assessments for high-risk travel and international assignments.
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional global teams in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of crisis response coordination incident management processes behavioral threat analysis escalation procedures and executive communications.
Experience developing governance processes KPIs/KRIs dashboards and reporting to support program effectiveness and operational readiness.
Experience facilitating tabletop exercises simulations and response testing activities to validate preparedness and response capabilities.
Strong collaboration and partnership skills across HR Legal Global Security Employee Relations Risk Management and business operations teams.
Experience utilizing travel risk intelligence platforms analytics automation and emerging technologies to improve monitoring reporting and operational efficiency.
Strong communication organizational analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to perform effectively during high-pressure situations.
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience; relevant certifications (e.g. CTH CPP CPO or similar) a plus.

YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location hire grade job-related knowledge skills experience and with consideration of internal equity of our current team addition to a comprehensive benefits package candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program as applicable.
For all sales roles the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
