Driver, Culinary Assistant

Under the supervision of the Coordinator Food Services performs food service duties throughout District including delivering set-up; preparation and distribution of food for catering buffet childcare lunches table service; cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives.

• Delivers and sets up carts buffets and tabling catering functions and childcare center lunches for all areas throughout the District.
• Delivers catering orders to respected rooms at designated times including driving catering van to varied district campuses and venues.
• Assists follows directions and performs food prep including cleaning peeling cutting vegetables mixing ingredients sandwich preparation and food display.
• Prepares food for distribution including cutting pies plating servings setting up and maintaining serving line selections.
• Assists in basic cooking including boiling eggs making toast and small item preparation.
• Relays orders and messages as required.
• Cleans dishes trays pots pans and other relevant tools and eating equipment.
• Uses District vehicle to deliver products to outlying MATC campuses and Childcare Centers.
• Resolves students faculty and staff concerns and complaints.
• Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.
  
  

Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirements as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency required and (1) year of experience in related area

Required License/Certification: Drivers license.

• Knowledge of the use of a variety of commercial kitchen equipment including basic and safe knife skills.
• Knowledge of personal hygiene and sanitation standards and the ability to maintain these standards.
• Skilled at basic mathematical functions and applications.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Physical ability sufficient to lift and move supplies up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift push pull or carry objects.
• Ability to walk long distances and stand during entire shift.
• Ability to utilize excellent customer services skills in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with MATC staff faculty students representatives from outside agencies business community and the general public.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees students and school personnel.
• Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently collaborate as a team member and some decisions consistent with established rules.
• Ability to access and disseminate information using computers and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite ability to complete online mandatory in-services.

This is a part-time 43-week in-person position (up to 19 hours per week) based primarily at the Milwaukee campus. Standard hours are between 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday. *43-week position (academic year schedule)
