Job Summary

Purpose Statement:

The job of Food Service Driver is done for the purpose/s of transporting foods supplies and/or equipment to designated sites while maintaining vehicle in a sanitary and safe operating condition.

This job reports to the Warehouse Manager

Essential Functions:

  • Fills kitchen orders for food products and supplies for the purpose of ensuring adequate availability of supplies to meet nutritional requirements of student.
  • Loads food items supplies and/or equipment for the purpose of preparing required items for transport.
  • Maintains assigned vehicle (e.g fuel oil tire pressure cleaning etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe operation and sanitation of vehicle.
  • Maintains documentation (e.g. delivery logs routes etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Transports food items supplies and/or equipment for the purpose of delivering requested items to designated sites.
  • Unloads food items supplies and/or equipment for the purpose of providing requested items to designated sites.

Other Functions:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: none specified.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: inventory procedures; storage and handling of supplies; and safe lifting techniques.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with others; work with specific job-related data; and utilize specific job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: being attentive to details; communicating with diverse groups; working under time constraints; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting 60% walking and 20% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.

Experience Job related experience is desired.

Education High School diploma or equivalent.
