- Provides input into the development establishment and implementation of institutional rulesregulations directives policies and procedures of the institution to ensure proper operation ofdaily functions.
- Plans organizes and assumes direct responsibility over the functions of the Clinical Services Record Office Medical Services Chaplaincy Leisure Time Industries and Education.
- Conducts interviews and counsels individuals in custody.
- Serves as full line supervisor.
- Conducts daily routine inspection tours of the institution for security safety and sanitation.
- Serves on and chairs Adjustment Committee Employee Review Board Drug and Alcohol Testing of Individuals in Custody Committee Individuals in Custody Benefit Committee and Quality Improvement Committee.
- Travels to various locations to attend management meetings trainings and to speak to lay and professional groups regarding the institution programs.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college preferably with courses in law enforcement criminology penology or a related field.
- Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement public or private organization a correctional facility or related field.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate validdrivers license.
- Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification card and the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve monthsof start date and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws.
- Requires the ability to work overtime and duty administrative office hours.
- Requires the ability to be on-call.
- Requires the use of agency-supplied technology.
- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee regardless of position held isprohibited.
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiringthe occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.)requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretaryof State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement ofEconomic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive EthicsCommission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result theemployee should be aware that if offered non State employment during state employment or within one year immediatelyafter ending State employment the employee shall prior to accepting any such non- State employment offer notify the Officeof the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
- Required to utilize digital technology tools platforms and processes in managing and supporting various digitalenhancements for greater efficiency productivity and digital transformation efforts within the department.
