The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a professional Internal Auditor. The person selected for this position will independently conduct internal audits and prepare audit reports for review. Additional duties include assisting the supervisor by compiling and analyzing internal audit data serving as an auditor on various assignments and audit teams as assigned and participating in meetings and entrance and exit conferences with internal staff and other agency personnel throughout the duration of the audit. - Independently conducts internal audits of simple and routine programs as assigned.
- Prepares audit reports for supervisory review summarizing the results of the audit work detailing audit findings and making appropriate recommendations.
- Represents internal audits in meetings.
- Continues education through accredit professional training (CPE).
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires a bachelors degree with coursework in auditing business management public administration economics computer science accounting or other related subjects.
- Requires completion of an agencys Internal Auditor Trainee program OR requires two (2) years of professional auditing experience.
- Prefers a Certified Internal Auditor Certified Public Accountant or the Certified Information Systems Auditor designation.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience working with a state agencys and/or similar type of organizations programs policies and regulations.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience working with fiscal management principles and techniques.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience working with current auditing technology software programs such as TeamMate Autoaudit or Caseware.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience applying state laws statutory mandates administrative rules regulations policies and procedures when auditing an agencys functions and programs.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience working with governmental operations.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience analyzing information systems.
- Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled unscheduled or last-minute overtime.
- Requires a valid and current drivers license.
- Requires ability to travel occasionally to facilities throughout the state to conduct internal audits perform audit functions attend trainings and participate in and/or hold internal audit meetings; overnight stays may be required.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee regardless of position held is prohibited.
- Required to utilize digital technology tools platforms and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency productivity and digital transformation efforts within the department.
