At our Closet Maid Ocala Distribution Center- a 200000 SQFT operation with approximately 40 employees working around the clock.

WHO YOU ARE

This DC is a hybrid providing replenishment services to regional DCs both internal and customer as well as direct fulfillment using both 3rd party and in-house transportation. DC also serves as a receiving and warehousing site for the adjacent Ocala Wire Plant.

The Hybrid Shift Supervisor is accountable for providing leadership direction and support while overlapping a two-shift operation within the Distribution Center (DC). During their shift the Supervisor manages operations to accomplish facility and company business goals; Operates the department in a safety-first cost-efficient quality-oriented manner to achieve excellent customer service while fostering effective employee relationships.

This position is a key member of the cross functional larger plant leadership team and is responsible for coordinating the activities of the DC overlapping two shifts but also in coordination with the manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety: Maintain a clean safe work environment assure processes specified follow best safety practices as established and support continuous improvements;
    • Including being a leader in 6S initiatives
  • Resource Planning: Monitor the yard traffic (incoming deliveries as well as expected departure schedules) to develop a schedule and resource plan for the shifts; be able to adjust throughout the shift to changes in demand; be able to document and communicate your status in a rolling turnover report to the next shift as well as plant leadership
    • Strong organizational skills and solid basic computer skills are important to achieve these duties
  • Supervision: Depending on shifts the teams may range from under 10 to over 40 employees; supervisor must process attendance manage adherence to company rules communicate changes in policy and schedule ensure training requirements are met recommend associates for development opportunities and other administrative duties typical of a supervision role

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree or equivalent Supervisory experience (business management logistics or comparable); Bachelors degree a plus
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a distribution center required; e-commerce fulfillment strongly encouraged
  • Experienced with a variety of DC equipment and systems examples should include several from each category:
    • Vans Curtain-Side LTL Intermodal Container
    • Reach trucks order pickers man-up electric pallet jack RF devices
    • Select racking push-back racking vertical storage bin shelving
    • Orbital wrappers box makers
    • WMS Yard Management Freight Portals Microsoft Office

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; Warm temperatures (above 95 degrees F)- occasionally in summer; Cool temperatures (below 40 degrees F) occasionally in winter. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
