The Parks Recreation & Comm Serv Department is actively seeking a Disabled Services Manager.

This position reports to the Chief of Disabled Services Division and provides management and oversight of the Disabled Services Division its programs staff and volunteers.
Examples of Work

  • Manages outreach services community events programs and services provided by Disabled Services Division.
  • Serves as 508 Web Compliance Officer for the division and works with other City departments to ensure online content is accessible to citizens with disabilities by conducting tests on published web applications.
  • Assists with managing the Handicapped Parking Trust Fund e.g. prepares legislation related to Trust Fund appropriations and administers projects/events that are funded.
  • Manages the Disabled Parking Enforcement Program ensuring FDLE certification training and oversight for the Disabled Parking Enforcement Administrator and all auxiliary parking enforcement specialists.
  • Serves as one of two representatives of the City of Jacksonville for matters concerning people with disabilities during emergency events that require full staffing of the Emergency Operations Center.
  • Must have ability to travel to various locations.
  • Communicates clear direction manages results and leads organizational change.
  • Assigns responsibility takes corrective action demonstrates leadership in evaluating developing and motivating employees.
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information

  • Six (6) years of education and/or professional experience in the social services field which includes one (1) year of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with persons with disabilities and/or disability programs and services is required.
  • Must obtain 508 Compliance Certification within 12 months of hire and maintain same through the duration of employment in this position.
  • Must obtain ADA Certification required within 24 months of hire and must maintain through the duration of employment in this position.
  • A bachelors degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
