About Power & Energy:
The Power & Energy segment is primarily responsible for supporting customers using various energy and power systems technologies. With a customer-back approach the segment is delivering ongoing customer value through holistic energy and power solutions.
Job Summary:
The Director of Strategy in Power & Energy will provide leadership in setting the strategy for some of the most critical segment-level initiatives driving profitable growth. This role is a trusted partner to the Power & Energy Leadership team and has responsibility for identifying and executing opportunities to drive profitable growth across the entire segment.
What You Will Do:
Strategy & Planning:
- Lead a portfolio of the most impactful projects and corporate processes that position Caterpillar for long-term success.
- Develop business cases in support of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and asset acquisition targets as required.
- Provide support in establishing and executing an annual strategic planning process with the Executive team business units and functions.
Executive Communication and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Responsible for strategic prioritization and focus across multiple organizations driving collaboration and coordination toward shared goals.
- Work closely with cross-functional and leadership teams across the segment on strategic projects bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support.
- Communicate recommendations about financial results operational priorities and planning in a clear and compelling manner with the appropriate levels of insight and actions.
- Support portions of the Group Presidents regular Board reporting.
Problem Solving and Analytics:
- Structure and solve business problems collaborate and coordinate with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues.
- Link assumptions to outcomes to set targets and drive business in right direction ensuring appropriate but achievable levels of stretch.
- Develop rigorous fact-based analysis to support recommendations ensuring strategic and financial soundness and alignment for recommendations.
What You Have:
- Education/Experience: Bachelors degree within Finance Economics Engineering or other related fields. 10 years of financial experience competitive analysis and/or M&A preferably within a larger and/or multinational corporation.
- Consulting: Knowledge of techniques roles and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients both internal and external; ability to apply consulting knowledge appropriately.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit receive and accurately interpret ideas information and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Stakeholder Management: Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders analyze their needs and expectations and implement various tasks to engage with them.
- Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of big picture thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Additional Info:
- Preferred Location: Irving TX.
- 10% - 20% travel is expected.

Summary Pay Range:
$189080.00 - $283630.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjob-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
