Purpose:
The Director R&D Equipment Engineering provides strategic direction and leadership to the teams that are accountable for R&D equipment engineering activities. This leader develops and executes the strategy to ensure development of prototype products processes equipment enabling technologies and engineering services to deliver new contact lens and IOL products. Provides strategic and technical leadership to develop new technology solutions. Translates organizational objectives into clear goals and priorities. This leader directs a variety of engineering projects utilizing a wide range of engineering principles. The Director leads engineers or engineering managers who support engineering projects to support delivery of R&D addition to R&D priorities this leader collaborates across the organization to ensure engineering best practices are developed shared and deployed. The leader is accountable for all aspects of the end-to-end R&D Product Supply Chain including budgeting staffing capital planning and scheduling in a highly dynamic R&D environment.
This role will interface and influence the senior leadership team R&D Platform teams Ophthalmic Materials Regulatory Affairs QA Marketing MAKE and Supply Chain to ensure the Engineering team is supporting the global organization. The Director takes a lead position in activities with outside vendors from beginning of design process through feasibility and start-up processes. Adheres to environmental policy procedures and supports department environmental objectives. Engages in Credo-based decision-making.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead a cross functional diverse team that is accountable for management R&D engineering activities.
- Develop and execute the strategy to further the advancement of engineering principles and best-in-class R&D operations principles to deliver the new product and new process pipeline.
- Interface across all facets of the R&D organization. Partners collaborates and prioritizes with other key R&D leaders to effectively deliver against goals and objectives.
- Forecast and anticipate key resource needs and future development opportunities to support new product / process development. Develops justifications to acquire resources / funding.
- Develop and execute the talent strategy to ensure professional development across the R&D Engineering organization. Provides mentoring and development opportunities.
- Oversee departmental resource allocations planning and budgeting.
- Develop and manage the R&D Equipment Roadmap. Align with stakeholders across the organization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelors degree in Engineering Physics Chemistry or related technical field is required.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience is required.
- People management experience is required.
- Proven leadership skills including motivating negotiating and providing direction in a team environment.
- Demonstrated record of completed engineering projects and/or launching products.
- Ability to motivate internal and external resources to meet project objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Up to 10% business travel may be required.
