Job Summary

Job Summary

The Director of Purchasing Demand Planning and Product Distribution is responsible for leading end to end supply planning to ensure product availability while supporting system resiliency strategies minimizing obsolescence mitigating product disruption risks and generating holistic value. This role oversees demand forecasting product disruptions and purchasing execution aligning cross functional stakeholders across the organization. The leader in this role utilizes benchmarks industry trends and technology to consider alternative business models or strategies in turn driving efficiency. He/she/they lead direct evaluate and develop a team of purchasing professionals to ensure the teams resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. By working closely with Sourcing Hospital Operations Tech & Analytics and distribution leaders director heavily engages in supplier performance risk mitigation and continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Formulate and implement processes and people development strategy to build a best in class purchasing and demand management function.
  • Set and execute end to end supply planning strategy aligning purchasing demand planning and product disruption management with overall business objectives.
  • Establish governance policies and decision rights for demand planning sourcing product disruption and inventory optimization.
  • Own the demand planning process ensuring accurate unbiased forecasts across products customers and channels.
  • Define forecasting methodologies assumptions and time horizons (short mid and long-term) to translate demand signals into actionable supply and inventory plans.
  • Oversee inventory health metrics such as inventory turns DOS excess & obsolete (E&O) and service levels.
  • Set inventory policies including safety stock reorder points cycle stock and segmentation by product/customer.
  • Create new innovative relationships and strategies with key suppliers that will prepare Corewell Health for the next decade
  • Develop supplier strategies including dual sourcing risk mitigation and long-term resiliency plans.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks including supplier disruptions demand volatility and capacity constraints.
  • Develop contingency plans for critical materials and high-risk suppliers.
  • Ensure demand inventory and purchasing plans are financially aligned with business targets and mitigate product disruption risks.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management Business Finance or related field
  • 5 years of relevant progressive business experience in business operations finance contracting or other related disciplines

Preferred

  • Masters Degree
  • 5 years of relevant prior experience leading professional-level teams
  • 5 years of relevant prior experience building new and innovative relationships and strategies with key suppliers
  • 2 years of relevant knowledge and application of supplier contract strategy negotiations contractual terms and contract administration experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience Knowledge of supplier processes and supply chain risk factors including experience in assessing and mitigating risk in the supply base
  • 5 years of relevant knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies & cost reduction methodologies experience
  • 2 years of relevant experience operating in a highly regulated industry. Medical Device industry sourcing and supplier management experience preferred.
  • Professional certifications through APICS ISM AHRMM and/or CSCMP
