Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education the Director of Title IX Compliance serves as the Title IX Coordinator for Virginia Tech.
The incumbent will lead all Title IX compliance efforts for the university. Through a comprehensive compliance and education program the Director of Title IX Compliance ensures Virginia Tech upholds its institutional commitment to an environment free from gender-based harassment discrimination and sexual misconduct. The incumbent will manage and oversee the response investigation and resolution of reports of sexual doing so the Director works collaboratively with campus partners with shared responsibility for response and adjudication providing oversight and guidance. The position provides leadership oversight to staff who provide support measures conduct investigations and provide outreach and education to the campus community. The position works with a great deal of autonomy and serves as the institutional expert and spokesperson on issues related to Title IX gender discrimination sexual harassment and gender-based violence.

The position will manage and oversee the provision of assistance and support to pregnant and parenting students. The position has responsibility for coordinating compliance with relevant provisions of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistic Act and NCAA Governors Policy on Campus Sexual Violence.

As the institutional Title IX compliance officer the position aids in the response to Title IX reviews and audits conducted by federal agencies.

The position is eligible for telework but requires onsite presence to provide visible on-site presence at student focused events and activities respond to walk-ins in the CRCPE office accommodate requests for in-person meetings conduct in-person trainings assist in campus outreach events provide for onsite meeting availability and to conduct onsite assessments.

Required Qualifications

- Masters degree in higher education administration human resources student affairs public policy government legal studies or Bachelors degree in a related field and significant related experience.
- Working knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state non-discrimination and anti-harassment laws regulations case law and relevant guidance with specific expertise with sexual harassment and sexual misconduct laws.
- Significant knowledge of or experience in Title IX civil rights compliance complaint resolution investigation alternative resolution efforts or grievance processes in a college or university setting.
-Significant experience investigating or resolving complaints of discrimination harassment sexual misconduct or retaliation
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships and open lines of communication with diverse constituencies of students staff and faculty.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment on complex sensitive confidential matters
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibility across the institution
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey the Universitys position on Title IX compliance to internal and external constituencies.
- Experience developing and facilitating effective educational training for faculty staff and students
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising individuals fostering teamwork and leading collaborative initiatives
- Analytical skills necessary to collect and review data evaluate results and develop strategic solutions to complex challenges in compliance and policy enforcement
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously utilizing excellent organizational analytical and problem-solving skills to drive efficient execution and successful outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

- JD strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability within a large complex highly decentralized organization.
- Demonstrated professional history in successful and progressively responsible administrative roles that included experience in strategic planning program assessment data analysis trend identification and policy development.
- Experience successfully leading professional staff who respond to complaints of discrimination and harassment with skill in effectively prioritizing multiple projects.
- Completion of Title IX Coordinator sexual violence prevention and/or response training with a nationally recognized organization.
