To provide leadership coordination and oversight for student support services that promote academic achievement social-emotional well-being and equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. The Director of Student Services ensures compliance with federal and state regulations related to special education Section 504 gifted education and other student support programs. The Director of Student Services is a member of the district administrative team.
- Provide leadership and supervision for student services programs including special education Section 504 gifted education related services counseling and other intervention programs.
- Develop implement and evaluate district-wide student support initiatives aligned with district goals (e.g. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)).
- Collaborate with administrators teachers families and community agencies to support student success.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental budgets.
- Analyze student performance and program data to guide continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations regarding special education services.
- Supervise the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Coordinate evaluations eligibility determinations and placement decisions.
- Provide guidance and professional development for special education staff and administrators.
- Oversee dispute resolution mediation and due process matters as needed.
- Coordinate district Section 504 compliance and implementation.
- Support school teams in developing accommodations and intervention plans.
- Monitor student support systems and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Oversee gifted coordination in partnership with the Licking Regional Educational Service Center.
- Supervise and evaluate assigned staff.
- Facilitate ongoing professional learning related to student services programs.
- Recruit interview and recommend qualified personnel.
- Promote collaborative problem-solving and effective communication among staff.
- Serve as a resource for families regarding student support services.
- Foster positive relationships with parents community organizations and outside agencies.
- Communicate district initiatives procedures and program updates effectively.
- Maintain accurate records and submit required state and federal reports.
- Monitor compliance with IDEA Section 504 gifted education regulations and other applicable laws.
- Develop and update policies and procedures related to student services programs.
- Attend Board of Education meetings as assigned.
- Serve on district leadership teams and committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
- Masters Degree required.
- Educational Leadership Special Education School Administration or related field preferred.
- Valid state administrative license/certificate.
- Valid teaching license.
- Special Education or Student Services background preferred.
- Minimum of five years of successful educational experience.
- Administrative experience preferred.
- Experience in special education student services and/or gifted education programming preferred.
- Knowledge of special education law Section 504 gifted education regulations and student support services.
- Strong leadership organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and implement improvement strategies.
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff students families and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
