Position Summary
Under administrative direction the Director of Sports Performance Baseball leads guides and directs the Baseball sports performance program. Develops sports performance curricula which elicit safe and correct execution of exercise techniques guiding student-athletes through a regimen of exercises to optimize performance and decrease injury potential; teaching proper weightlifting speed agility and conditioning techniques; encouraging and motivating student-athletes to train and perform to their utmost potential. Promotes Intercollegiate Athletics as an integral part of the University. Reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Health and Well-Being.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
4-5 years of coaching experience in an intercollegiate environment preferably at a Division I level. Knowledge of and familiarity of NCAA rules and regulations. Good organizational interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience working with college level athletes in strength and conditioning. Baseball experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; must be proficient in the instruction assessment evaluation and supervision of multiple weightlifting techniques; ability to physically demonstrate proper exercise techniques and have knowledge of use and maintenance of fitness equipment. Advanced computer knowledge is beneficial along with experience using performance technologies such as GPS heart rate monitoring and other performance metrics. Prefer experience as prior professional Olympic or collegiate athlete. Demonstrated ability and skill in the implementation of advanced training principles as applied to the development of speed and power. Ability to assist and work independently in the corrective strategies necessary toward addressing problematic commonalities in Student-Athlete Baseball players and other sport areas as assigned. Demonstrate a positive mental attitude and the ability to communicate effectively and work well with student-athletes parents faculty staff and the community. Possess a commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically.
