Job Description-Director of Special Education
TITLE: Director of Special Education Federal Programs and 504 Programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds appropriate certification for Director of Special Education
- Ability to communicate with school administrators staff students and parents
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB GOALS:
- To provide leadership and supervision of special education and 504 practices
- To utilize federal funding grants
- To oversee and supervise the early childhood education program
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs and supervises early childhood education program Special Education program E.L. and 504 plans.
- Supervises district level staff for early childhood education and special education programs.
- Prepares and monitors early childhood and special education program budgets.
- Coordinates and prepares early childhood and special education program evaluations.
- Prepares special education preschool and 504 program reports as required by the Department of Education.
- Assists the Superintendent with effective instructional practices and programming as it relates to federal programs early childhood education special education RtI and 504 plans.
- Assists the professional development coordinator in screening hiring and evaluating the professional childhood education and special education personnel activities.
- Coordinates the instructional component for special needs students.
- Assists with the recruitment of special education personnel and related services personnel.
- Supervises the school psychologist services program.
- Assists in the completion of the District CDIP.
- Assumes other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Superintendent.
- Oversees 504 program for students and makes appropriate services available to students.
- Represents superintendent on administrative ARC.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
- Adheres to professional Codes of Ethics adopted by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
