Job Summary

Position Summary:

Yeshiva University announces its new College of Dental Medicine and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum integrates Digital Dentistry techniques taught by todays dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school provides a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative Block style curriculum which ensures in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Orthodontics provides academic leadership for the predoctoral orthodontics program within the College of Dental Medicine. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Clinical Practice the Director is responsible for the development implementation assessment and continuous improvement of the orthodontic curriculum and clinical education program. The Director ensures that students develop the knowledge clinical judgment technical skills and professional competencies necessary to diagnose prevent and manage orthodontic conditions using evidence-based patient-centered approaches.

The Director collaborates with academic and clinical faculty to integrate orthodontics throughout the predoctoral curriculum promote interdisciplinary education and ensure compliance with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards and University policies. This position supports excellence in teaching scholarship curriculum innovation faculty development and student success while advancing the mission and educational goals of the College of Dental Medicine.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development and Integration: Design implement assess and continuously improve the orthodontics curriculum ensuring alignment with CODA accreditation standards institutional learning outcomes and integration with biomedical sciences and other areas of dental education.
  • Integrated Didactic and Clinical Instruction: Provide coordinated didactic and clinical instruction using mastery-based evidence-driven teaching approaches that actively engage learners and integrate biomedical science principles into orthodontic diagnosis treatment planning and patient-centered care. Evaluate student competency provide timely feedback and participate in student assessment and remediation activities as needed.
  • Educational Standards and Clinical Training: Develop and maintain educational standards for orthodontic diagnosis treatment planning and clinical instruction. Establish competency-based learning objectives calibrate faculty to ensure consistent instruction and student evaluation and promote the application of evidence-based orthodontic principles throughout the educational program.
  • Faculty and Student Mentorship: Mentor and support faculty and students by fostering academic excellence professionalism critical thinking ethical decision-making and lifelong learning. Provide guidance on clinical decision-making case presentations scholarly activities and professional development.
  • Research and Scholarship: Promote research scholarly activity and evidence-based practice in orthodontics by encouraging faculty and student participation in research publications presentations and the integration of emerging scientific evidence into the curriculum.
  • Compliance Accreditation and Educational Assessment: Ensure orthodontic education complies with University policies CODA accreditation standards and applicable regulatory requirements. Participate in accreditation activities curriculum review self-study preparation program assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives related to student learning outcomes.
  • Educational Resources and Technology: Oversee the selection utilization and maintenance of educational resources orthodontic equipment and instructional technologies. Promote the integration of digital orthodontic workflows intraoral scanning digital treatment planning and innovative teaching methodologies into the educational program.
  • Interdisciplinary Education and Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty across clinical and biomedical disciplines to develop interdisciplinary educational experiences comprehensive treatment planning and integrated patient-centered learning that prepares students for collaborative dental practice.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from a CODA-accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for dental licensure in New York State.
  • Certificate in Orthodontics from a CODA-accredited advanced education program.
  • Eligible for licensure to practice dentistry in the State of New York.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Orthodontics preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching predoctoral dental students preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Orthodontics including patient care academic teaching and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical education support faculty practice oversight and compliance with CODA and institutional accreditation standards.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA FERPA OSHA and laws/regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in New York State

  • Demonstrated expertise in orthodontic diagnosis treatment planning biomechanics growth and development and contemporary orthodontic treatment modalities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based dentistry competency-based education and mastery learning principles.
  • Ability to develop implement evaluate and continuously improve educational programs and curricula.
  • Knowledge of CODA accreditation standards and outcomes assessment in dental education.
  • Experience integrating biomedical sciences with clinical education and interdisciplinary patient care.
  • Ability to assess student performance provide constructive feedback and support student academic success.
  • Commitment to educational innovation continuous quality improvement and excellence in teaching.
  • Strong mentoring coaching and faculty calibration skills.
  • Excellent organizational analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty staff students and University leadership.
  • Proficiency with instructional technologies learning management systems and digital orthodontic technologies including digital imaging intraoral scanning and treatment planning software.
  • Commitment to professionalism ethical practice diversity equity inclusion and student-centered education.
