    THE ROLE

    Our client a regional acute care health system in Albuquerque NM seeks a full-time permanent Director of Emergency Services to oversee operations across two emergency departments - a 21-bed ED and a 7-bed ED - operating under a single licence at locations in close proximity. The combined team comprises approximately 55 60 FTEs who float between both sites to support patient care and throughput. The Director reports directly to senior hospital leadership and will partner closely with Behavioral Health Med-Surg ICU and other inpatient service lines. This is a direct-hire permanent replacement opportunity for a visible and operationally disciplined emergency nursing leader.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily operations of two Emergency Departments with a combined team of approximately 55 60 FTEs
  • Execute strategic planning and identify department succession strategy
  • Oversee physician relationships and engagement across both ED locations
  • Develop and monitor quality initiatives staffing and productivity guidelines and patient satisfaction goals
  • Analyse and ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards
  • Develop implement and evaluate policies standards and programmes supporting both departments
  • Plans and organises orientation and in-service training; participates in guidance and educational programmes
  • Collaborate with marketing and nursing leadership on community outreach and visibility
  • Develop and submit capital budgets; use forecasted budget to guide expenditure decisions
  • Drive operational improvements to enhance patient flow throughput and department performance
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with Behavioral Health Medical-Surgical and ICU leadership
  • REQUIREMENTS

    Must-Have

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing required; candidates without BSN must be currently enrolled with a confirmed completion date
  • Current RN licence - New Mexico or compact licence eligibility
  • Minimum 3 5 years of Emergency Department clinical nursing experience
  • Minimum 2 3 years in a management capacity within an Emergency Department setting
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing operations in an acute care environment
  • Proven track record in employee engagement culture development and follow-through on staff commitments
  • Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Director or senior management experience within an Emergency Department
  • Masters degree in nursing or related field
  • Certification in emergency nursing or nursing administration (e.g. CEN CENP)
  • Experience leading larger teams and shared-service environments
  • Demonstrated success in retention culture transformation and operational improvement
