Job Summary: Our office inNew Orleans LAis seeking aDirector ofMechanical Engineeringto lead a fast-paced multi-discipline team. Our Mechanical Engineers focus primarily on the design of building-related projects including multifamily higher educational facilities large commercial projects retail and local government projects using Revit.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead supervise and provide guidance to a team of engineers
  • Develop mechanical system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
  • Provide engineering design evaluation and planning of mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of market types
  • Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing mechanical and plumbing systems
  • Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
  • Write and edit project specifications
  • Prepare detailed design documents reports and studies
  • Perform code compliance research
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines
  • Provide construction administration services
  • Perform QA/QC of design work
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients
  • Assist in the procurement of new work including the development of client relations and participation in project interviews

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Engineering Technology or Drafting
  • 10 years of experience in mechanical design
  • PE License (preferred)
  • Familiarity with codes standards and design guidelines
  • Hands-on experience with the latest versions of AutoCAD REVIT MS Office and engineering calculation and performance simulation software
  • Team management experience (preferred)

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in the face of shifting projects and deadlines
  • A positive attitude with colleagues and clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Location: New Orleans LA

Travel: Up to 25%
