Position Overview

Job Title: Director of Continuing Professional Education

Office/Location: SUNY Polytechnic Institute

The Director of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) supports the Assistant Vice President of Workforce Development and External Relations to provides strategic leadership for the development implementation and growth of SUNY Polytechnic Institutes continuing professional education portfolio. The Director connects SUNY Polys academic expertise with workforce and industry needs by developing credit-bearing and non-credit programs for employers professionals government agencies healthcare organizations nonprofits and community partners.

The Director identifies workforce training opportunities cultivates external partnerships develops customized educational solutions and expands revenue-generating programs that support workforce and economic development talent retention and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Strategy

• Develop and implement strategies to grow SUNY Polys continuing professional education portfolio.
• Identify workforce and industry needs and develop market-responsive programs.
• Design launch and evaluate credit-bearing and non-credit offerings including certificates microcredentials professional development customized employer training workshops and industry credentials.
• Ensure programs meet institutional SUNY regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Evaluate program success using enrollment financial performance satisfaction and workforce impact.

Employer Engagement & Business Development

• Build and maintain relationships with employers industry associations government agencies healthcare organizations nonprofits municipalities and community partners.
• Serve as a primary contact for organizations seeking workforce education and customized training.
• Conduct workforce needs assessments and develop tailored education and training solutions.
• Identify revenue-generating opportunities and develop proposals budgets pricing models contracts and program agreements.
• Represent SUNY Poly at business industry workforce and community events.

Academic Collaboration & Operations

• Partner with faculty and academic leadership to develop and deliver workforce-responsive programming.
• Coordinate instructional staffing contracts scheduling and program logistics.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on outreach and program promotion.
• Oversee program budgets reporting compliance operations and continuous improvement.
• Supervise assigned staff and student employees.

The position is based in Utica NY.

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual checks.

Salary:$95000 - $100000

Required Qualifications

• Masters degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in continuing education workforce development higher education administration corporate training business development or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience developing educational or workforce training programs.
• Strong communication project management financial management and partnership development skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education continuing education or workforce development.
• Experience with grant-funded workforce initiatives.
• Knowledge of adult learning and instructional design.
• Experience developing customized employer training solutions.
