Director of Community Engagement

The Director of Community Engagement is a leadership position at working in close partnership with the Executive Director to grow and steward the organizations membership community. This role oversees community-facing operations that shape the experience of InsuranceAUMs members sponsors and key industry stakeholders. This includes existing member engagement new member recruitment sponsor relationship development and cultivation of the broader insurance investment community.

The Director will place particular emphasis on deepening relationships with Chief Investment Officers and other investment and finance professionals at insurance carriers across both life/health and property/casualty segments as well as with InsuranceAUMs sponsor community comprised primarily of asset management firms.

What Youll Do:

Sponsor & Partner Relations

  1. Serve as a lead relationship owner for InsuranceAUMs sponsor community cultivating and strengthening partnerships with asset management firms and other sponsor organizations.
  2. Identify prospect and secure new sponsorship opportunities that align with InsuranceAUMs mission and deliver value to members and sponsors alike.
  3. Partner with the Executive Director to develop sponsorship structures pricing and renewal strategies that support long-term revenue growth.
  4. Represent InsuranceAUM at industry conferences sponsor meetings and member events to build and sustain high-value relationships.

Membership & Community Growth

  1. Contribute to development and execution of innovative member and community growth and engagement strategies across InsuranceAUM in close partnership with the Executive Director.
  2. Develop monitor and report on metrics for assessing the effectiveness of InsuranceAUMs membership community engagement and communications efforts.
  3. Prospect and develop new membership and community opportunities with a focus on Chief Investment Officers and other investment and finance professionals at insurance carriers spanning both life/health and property/casualty organizations.
  4. Strategize and implement business development strategies to ensure InsuranceAUM meets its objectives by growing and retaining its membership community. Focus on opportunities where InsuranceAUM can have the most impact for member organizations and the industry while garnering significant revenue opportunities for the organization.
  5. Ensure all functions content events marketing and operations are coordinating with each other to create a seamless member and community experience.

Events & Member Experience

  1. Partner with the Executive Director on the strategy and content of InsuranceAUMs signature events including the Insurance Investment Executives Annual Meeting and its regional and topical forums ensuring a seamless experience for members and sponsors.
  2. Collaborate cross-functionally with content marketing and operations teams to align event editorial and community programming with member and sponsor priorities.

Leadership

  1. Cultivate a positive workplace environment through effective leadership relationships and empowerment of employees. Train develop and manage colleagues to achieve organizational goals through effective independent and interdependent contributions.
  2. Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the Executive Director contributing to organizational planning and stepping in to lead on the Executive Directors behalf as needed.
  3. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

What Were Looking For:

  1. Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
  2. 10 years of membership community engagement or related experience required. Experience in a membership organization professional association or other not-for-profit organization preferred.
  3. Successful B2B sales and business development experience required.
  4. Proven experience leading and managing member- or customer-facing teams strongly preferred.
  5. Experience in the insurance or asset management industry including familiarity with Chief Investment Officers and institutional investment professionals strongly preferred.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with and influence all levels of the organization internally and externally.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (Word PowerPoint Excel Outlook).
  8. Proficiency in sales CRM.

  4. Relationship sales: Emphasis on retaining business and closing sales. Ability to conduct strong discovery sessions to learn customer business needs and determining where there is a fit between customer requirements future needs and The Institutes overall solution set.
  5. Collaboration: Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building listening and questioning skills.
  6. Creativity and Innovation: Ability to think strategically and identify problems and logically generate ideas in approaching resolution.

Special Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  1. Significant percentage of workday seated.
  2. Significant percentage of workday working with computer workstation.
  3. Non-traditional Institutes work hours may be required on an emergency pre-scheduled or project basis.
  4. Some travel required to attend industry conferences sponsor meetings and InsuranceAUM events.
