Director-Maintenance Air Operations

The Director of Maintenance is responsible for planning and ensuring that all aviation maintenance is conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner in compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). The Director of Maintenance is the point of contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for all aviation maintenance-related activities. The Director of Maintenanceis expected to follow the Mayo Clinic Culture of Safety by modeling 5 safety behaviors: pay attention to detail communicate clearly have a questioning and receptive attitude hand-off effectively and support each other. The ultimate goal is to place the needs of our patients first by ensuring aviation safety. This is an FAA safety-sensitive position.

Candidate must meet the requirements of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 14 Section 119.71(e) titled Management personnel: Qualifications for operations conducted under part 135 of this chapter.

Minimum Education and/or Experience

Mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings.

And either:

3 years experience within the last 6 years maintaining aircraft as a certificated mechanic including experience in maintaining the same category and class of aircraft used by Mayo Clinic (BK117-D3/D2 BK117-C2 King Air BE-300C) or

3 years experience within the past 6 years repairing aircraft in a certificated airframe repair station including 1 year in the capacity of approving aircraft for return to service.

Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.

Preferred Experience and/or Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Aviation Management Business Management or related field preferred.

3 years supervisory experience preferred.

Previous experience in a helicopter EMS operation preferred.

Previous experience in an air ambulance operation preferred.

Previous experience as a Director of Maintenance preferred.
