Job Summary

The Director Hepatology/Immunology Portfolio and Pipeline Strategy leads U.S. portfolio and pipeline strategy for Hepatology/Immunology medicines spanning in-line brands and pipeline assets from Phase 2 through launch. The role develops and delivers U.S. market analyses and insights translates U.S. customer perspectives into clinical and health outcome needs and establishes U.S.-specific insights and market assumptions that inform clinical development plans financial valuations and investment decisions for Hepatology/Immunology medicines.

In addition the role drives U.S. business growth through a forward-looking portfolio vision including asset prioritization resourcing and long-range strategic planning while creating and implementing strategies for the existing portfolio in partnership with global counterparts through market-responsive U.S.-specific initiatives. The Director crafts the U.S. insights for Hepatology/Immunology disease states competitors and specialties supports U.S. leadership representation at LOC and Global committees and serves as a single point of accountability and voice of the U.S. customer and commercial interests for Hepatology/Immunology assets at early stage-gates.

Key Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Strategy and Lifecycle Management

  • Create and implement portfolio strategies for Hepatology/Immunology medicines in partnership with global counterparts as well as U.S.-specific initiatives as needed taking into account multiple customer specialties multiple indications including opportunities for indication expansion and lifecycle extension and the need for flexible market-responsive objectives.
  • Create market maps for the current and future Hepatology/Immunology portfolio considering customer and patient needs MOA assumptions method of administration financial impacts and the evolving healthcare landscape working seamlessly with stakeholders in Sales Insights & Analytics Finance Medical Market Access and GPS.
  • Identify trends in current Hepatology/Immunology brand performance key specialty customers and competitors to shape business insights that inform current strategies and GPS.
  • Lead U.S. portfolio and lifecycle strategy across in-line and pipeline Hepatology/Immunology assets ensuring alignment with brand strategy commercial objectives and medical priorities and informing resource allocation and investment choices.
  • Ensure that insights from in-line brands customer experience and external experts are consistently integrated into portfolio decisions including indication prioritization sequencing and lifecycle planning for Hepatology/Immunology medicines.

2. Pipeline Strategy and Product Development

  • Develop and deliver U.S. market analyses and insights for the Hepatology/Immunology pipeline in partnership with the cross-functional New Products team.
  • Translate U.S. customer perspectives (HCPs patients payers) into clinical trial and health outcome needs to inform clinical development plans and financial valuations for Hepatology/Immunology assets.
  • Establish and ensure delivery of U.S.-specific insights and market assumptions for each Hepatology/Immunology medicine from Phase 2 through LOC activation approximately 1824 months prior to launch.
  • Serve as a single point of accountability leadership and voice of the U.S. customer for Hepatology/Immunology assets at early stage-gates.
  • For early-stage Hepatology/Immunology assets lead disease and product strategies for external stakeholders (HCPs patients payers).
  • Identify therapeutic and asset-related customer insights and effectively communicate needs to R&D project teams to ensure payer needs are considered as part of clinical development plans.
  • Deliver asset-level recommendations for Phase 2 2b and 3 stage-gate decisions for Hepatology/Immunology assets.
  • Develop and maintain a long-range portfolio vision for Hepatology/Immunology including asset prioritization resourcing implications and strategic planning to support future pipeline opportunities.

3. Insights Analytics and Market Understanding

  • Develop and leverage analytic approaches to understand U.S. customer needs in partnership with Insights & Analytics and Forecasting.
  • Provide direction and guidance for market research competitive intelligence and quantitative/qualitative analyses for market characterization and customer segmentation.
  • Ensure adequate expert input and review of key commercial assessments of the future Hepatology/Immunology therapeutic landscape including deep insights into patients customers marketplace competitors and business drivers.
  • Translate commercial and environmental assessments into forward-looking insights on how patient marketplace and customer needs may evolve over time.
  • Maintain understanding of current and future market trends for reimbursement to provide continuously improving perspective for market access inputs.

4. Governance Decision Support and Business Partnership

  • Lead asset reviews for Hepatology/Immunology medicines and deliver aligned recommendations for the U.S. Pharma President Business Unit Leads Managed Markets Leads and Medical Leads in preparation for global governance meetings (e.g. Forecast Review Committee (FRC) and Portfolio Investment Board (PIB)).
  • Communicate and educate Global and R&D stakeholders regarding the changing landscape of the U.S. pharmaceutical market and its implications for the Hepatology/Immunology portfolio and pipeline.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategy and business unit leadership to ensure consistency in U.S. feedback into global portfolio and pipeline decisions.
  • Evaluate business development opportunities relevant to the U.S. Hepatology/Immunology portfolio and provide recommendations based on Business Unit strategy.

5. Market Access Evidence and Value Story

  • Partner with U.S. Health Outcomes and Medical Affairs to develop clinical health outcomes and/or economic evidence to support customer needs and initial brand value positioning for Hepatology/Immunology medicines.
  • Ensure early and ongoing integration of payer perspectives and access considerations into clinical development and lifecycle plans for Hepatology/Immunology assets.

6. Go-to-Market Models and Financial / Operational Management

  • Lead assessment of innovative go-to-market models for Hepatology/Immunology medicines to provide differentiated approaches to optimizing the P&L.
  • Develop and own the budget for insights work including primary and secondary analyses supporting Hepatology/Immunology portfolio and pipeline decisions.
  • Collaborate with Forecasting & Finance to ensure an accurate outlook for U.S. Hepatology/Immunology launches and to identify additional value opportunities across the portfolio.

7. Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with senior leaders across U.S. business units Global Therapy Areas Therapy Area Research Leaders Medical Development Leads Forecasting & Finance Health Outcomes and Business Development to ensure an accurate outlook for U.S. launches and identify additional value opportunities.
  • Work seamlessly across key stakeholders in Sales Insights & Analytics Finance Medical and GPS to align on portfolio and pipeline priorities and ensure pull-through of strategic decisions.
  • Partner effectively with medical legal compliance regulatory and marketing teams as needed for Hepatology/Immunology initiatives.

Why You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required (e.g. Marketing Business Life Sciences or related field).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical biotech or healthcare roles (e.g. product marketing medical/clinical new products market access insights and analytics portfolio/strategy) with Hepatology/Immunology experience in at least one of these functions.
  • Experience developing and delivering market analyses and customer insights to inform clinical development plans financial valuations and/or stage-gate decisions for pipeline or in-line assets.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Medical R&D Insights & Analytics Forecasting Health Outcomes Finance and Business Development as well as Brand Sales Legal Compliance and Regulatory partners.
  • Experience leading complex asset/portfolio reviews and delivering insight-driven recommendations that influence senior stakeholder decisions
  • Experience presenting and delivering data-driven strategies to executive audiences (live and virtual)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree preferred (e.g. MBA Masters degree or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated Hepatology/Immunology marketplace experience including understanding of patients customers marketplace competitors and business drivers across relevant specialties.
  • Demonstrated leadership in portfolio pipeline or new product strategy roles including experience leading assessments of go-to-market models and P&L optimization initiatives.
  • Marketing and/or pipeline management background with strong portfolio and cross-functional leadership experience.
  • Experience with HCP- or patient-administered specialty medicines
