Enterprise AI Transformation Office


Our team is a critical pillar of the new Enterprise AI (EAI) strategic business unit ensuring we are set-up for success to deliver business impact through AI byidentifyingand driving transformative opportunities and shaping and delivering the AI transformation across the enterprise. We set the EAI strategic and operational direction and lead cross-functional and enterprise-wide AI initiatives to deliver transformative value and ensure we are at our best in delivering life-saving medicines to patients.

About the Role

This director role sits within AstraZenecas Enterprise AI Transformation Office (AITO) reporting to the Senior Director Culture & Capability.Youlllead strategic communications and culture change for EAI responsible for shaping narratives driving engagement and leadingbehavioralchange across EAI teams while supporting both EAI-wide and team-specific communication needs.

What Youll Lead:

EAI Communications Leadership (35%)

  • Craft EAI transformation narrativesthat resonate across all EAI units and organizational levels

  • Design and execute EAI-wide communication strategiesincluding townhalls and team events

  • Partner with Global Corporate Affairsto align EAI communications with enterprise-wide AI messaging

  • Translate complex AI conceptsinto accessible communications for diverse EAI audiences

  • Supportmajor EAI events(Connection Week AI Symposium cross-unit initiatives)

EAI Team Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement (30%)

  • Serve as primary communications point of contactfor assigned EAI teams

  • Build deep stakeholder relationshipsacross EAI units acting as trusted advisor for communication and change needs

  • Gather intelligence on EAI team needsthrough regular engagement with unit leaders and members

  • Translate stakeholder insightsinto comprehensive plans that integrate communications change management and capability development

  • Facilitate cross-EAI collaborationand communication between units

  • Support unit-specific communication needswhile maintaining EAI-wide consistency

EAI Culture Change & Community Building (25%)

  • Drivebehavioralshiftsthat foster EAI culture and normalize AI as a core capability

  • Design and launch EAI culture campaignsthat reinforce experimentation learning from failure and AI confidence

  • Build EAI communitythrough social events recognition programs and team-building initiatives

  • Embed EAI culture principlesinto team practices and recognition mechanisms

  • Measure and track cultural indicatorsrelated to EAI team engagement and AI adoption

Change Management & Leadership Support (10%)

  • Support structured change management approachesfor major EAI initiatives

  • Build trust and manage resistancewithin EAI teams during transformation

  • Coach EAI leaderson change leadership tactics and communication strategies

  • Track adoption metrics and feedback loopsto monitor EAI transformation progress

Essential Requirements

  • Scientific degree(PhD MD or equivalent advanced scientific training preferred) with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts credibly across research clinical and business audiences

  • 10 yearsin strategic communications internal communications or corporate affairs roles with a proventrack recordof crafting compelling narratives and executing communication strategies in complex matrixed organizations

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience including ability to coach leaders manage execution through others and lead teams.

  • Experience supporting organizational transformationwith familiarity with change management methodologies (Prosci Kotter or equivalent) anda track recordof drivingbehavioralchange and culture transformation initiatives

  • Strong stakeholder management and consultative skills withdemonstratedability to build trusted relationships across multiple business units gather needs synthesize insights and develop integrated communications and capability plans

  • Experience in global organizationsacross multiple time zones and cultural contexts with the ability to influence without direct authority at all organizational levels

Desirable Qualifications

  • Pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience

  • Technology or digital transformation experience

  • Medical writing or scientific communications background

  • Familiarity with AI technologies and their application to drive business value with the ability to translate AI concepts into compelling narratives that support adoption and organizational transformation.

Total Rewards

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $148366.40 - $190000 pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and experience.

In addition our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program 401(k) plan; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and health benefits including medical prescription drug dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.

Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
