What is the Opportunity

The Director Business Development will lead Aecons expansion in the United States driving growth across the heavy civil infrastructure sector. This role is accountable for building and executing pursuit strategies to secure large-scale complex projects through early positioning strategic partnerships and disciplined capture management.

What Youll Do Here:

• Lead the development and execution of U.S. market growth strategy targeting priority heavy civil sectors including bridges highways transit systems and water infrastructure.
• Identify shape and pursue major infrastructure opportunities focusing on $300M$2B projects.
• Direct market research efforts to identify emerging trends competitive threats and regulatory shifts in the U.S. infrastructure sector.
• Monitor market trends regulatory changes and competitor activities.
• Identify evaluate and negotiate strategic partnerships joint ventures and alliances that align with Aecons long-term growth objectives.
• Coordinate with marketing estimating legal operations and engineering teams to ensure cohesive pursuit strategies and project delivery alignment.
• Oversee capture planning for major pursuits including win strategies competitive positioning and client engagement plans.
• Represent Aecon at high-level industry forums government briefings and strategic stakeholder meetings to elevate brand presence and influence.

What You Bring to the Team:

• Bachelors degree in engineering business or related field (MBA preferred).
• Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in business development including leadership roles within heavy civil infrastructure.
• Ability to translate market insights into actionable growth strategies and measurable outcomes.
• Strong understanding of capital markets project finance and commercial structuring in large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Ability to represent Aecon at the highest levels with professionalism credibility and strategic insight.
• Has a strong network and experience in the U.S. infrastructure market.
• Demonstrated experience successfully managing the competing objectives of many external and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to deal with uncertainty changing and multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication negotiation and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel across the U.S. and to Canada as required.
• Experience in Alternative delivery model projects.
