- Position Summary
The Digital Content Specialist serves as Gadsden State Community Colleges lead digital content professional responsible for creating managing and optimizing the colleges digital presence across its website social media channels and other online platforms. This cross-functional role blends web content management social media photography and digital storytelling to produce compelling content that strengthens the Gadsden State brand supports recruitment and engagement and showcases the colleges people programs and impact.
Direct Supervisory Responsibility: NO- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Capture high-quality photographs at college events including but not limited to Honors Day Graduation ribbon-cutting ceremonies student activities sporting events theatre productions document the Presidents activities take headshots for staff and photograph athletic teams and student achievements highlight workforce development health sciences and academics and other key institutional events.
- Oversee the Colleges social media accounts including content creation and curation audience engagement and ad campaign management including platforms like but not limited to Facebook X LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Lead new social media account setup.
- Provide advisory support and serve as a backup user for subaccounts.
- Develop organize and maintain the Gadsden State online photo gallery through our digital asset management platform PhotoShelter ensuring efficient management and archive of photo assets.
- Oversee and maintain Gadsden States main public website and related pages () and support the Cardinal Athletics site and FAME site.
- Maintain the website for Gadsden State including the maintenance design and layout for website pages as needed. This includes all areas of the College for which web pages are appropriate.
- Maintain continuity of themes design layout streamline navigation and increase online presence to potential students.
- Work closely with members of the PR & Marketing team in the preparation of creative for campaign efforts
- Monitor and analyze search engine website and social media traffic data to optimize online visibility drive engagement with audiences and maximize traffic to the website.
- Design and produce various marketing materials including flyers t-shirts infographics social media graphics flyers brochures PowerPoints website banners and other items as needed.
- Serve as a backup to the Public Relations Director for urgent communications with media the public and internal College administration during crises or emergencies.
- Regularly update and use project management software () to track progress.
- Use email/phone communications to inform internal/external partners and clients of project updates Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Associate degree from an accredited institution in communications marketing graphic design multimedia digital media or a related field and at least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in digital content creation multimedia marketing or communications required; OR
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in communications marketing graphic design multimedia digital media or a related field. Relevant internships freelance work student employment and other demonstrated hands-on experience may be considered.
- A combination of education training and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may also be considered.
- Must be able to maintain continuity of themes design layout streamline navigation and increase online presence to potential students.
- Pleasing personality enthusiastic and positive attitude evidence of trustworthiness and ethical conduct effective human relations skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on time and in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge and use of digital cameras and photo editing software.
- Knowledge of different file formats and resolutions to be used for specific purposes (printing and digital).
- Knowledge of copyright laws.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

- Ability to respond to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work.

SALARY: Salary Schedule E4-05 ($35670 - $53865) Based on the 2026-2027 ACCS Salary Schedules. Salary will be based on VERIFIED education and years of VERIFIED FULL-TIME directly related experience that is stated on the initial job application and resume.Be sure all experience is stated on the application!

Salary Calculation: For all positions on all Salary Schedules the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule. Step placement is dependent upon the following: (a) all full-time work experience in public education in Alabama and (b) all other full-time work experience outside of public education in Alabama that in the sole judgment of the College directly relates to the requirements of the position. The applicant selected for the position must provide written verification(s) of this full-time work experience within the time provided herein if such experience is to be considered in determining their initial step place on the Salary Schedule.
Format for Work Experience Verifications: Work experience verifications should be in the form of verification letters from employers and must include complete employment dates job title(s) job duties and an indication whether such employment was full-time or part-time and if part-time the average number of hours worked each week.
