Work Hours:Standard College hours are Monday Friday 8:30 am 4:30 pm; Additional hours including evening and weekend hours may be needed to meet the needs of the department.

General Summary:The Digital Accessibility and Design Administrator ensures that all digital products platforms and user experiences are inclusive accessible and compliant with accessibility standards such as WCAG ADA and Section 508. This role bridges design and accessibility combining expertise in user experience (UX) visual design and assistive technologies to create digital solutions that are usable by all individuals including people with disabilities. The specialist collaborates with web developers and content creators to embed accessibility best practices throughout the digital design and development lifecycle fostering a culture of inclusive design and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree required in information technology information science computer science information design human-computer interaction graphic design information design or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Relevant professional certifications such as CPACC WAS CPWA ADS Section 508 trusted tester Adobe Certified Professional Google UX Design Professional desired but not required.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Blended Skill Set: Technical soft and design skills including accessibility standards like WCAG knowledge of assistive technologies proficiency in HTML problem-solving digital design principals and strong communication skills.
  • Accessibility standards: Deep understanding of guidelines such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Section 508 ADA Title 3.
  • Assistive technologies: Proficiency with and knowledge of various assistive technologies like JAWS and NVIDA screen magnifiers speech recognition and keyboard navigation. Understand the limitations with the tools.
  • Design skills: Experience in graphic and user experience (UX) design with the ability to create inclusive interfaces. Strong grasp of composition balance hierarchy color theory contrast and typography.
  • Brand Identity Development: Ability to create and maintain consistent CCAC brand visuals tone and assets across platforms.
  • Accessible UI/UX Design: Ability to create accessible color palettes contrast-compliant layouts and readable typography. Ensuring interaction elements (buttons forms navigation) are perceivable and operable.
  • Concept Development: Translating ideas and project goals into creative visual concepts storyboards and mockups.
  • Layout & Composition: Crafting effective layouts for digital formats such as the CCAC website internal portal mobile application and other applications that enhance usability and readability.
  • Prototyping & Design Tools: Skilled in Figma Sketch Adobe XD etc. and ensuring accessible components are used consistently.
  • Testing and auditing: Ability to use both automated and manual testing methods conduct audits and document findings. Conducting testing with users of diverse abilities.
  • Accessibility Testing Tools: Experience with tools such as axe WAVE Lighthouse Siteimprove Deque ANDI etc.
  • Document & Media Accessibility: Creating and assisting with the creation of accessible PDFs Word and PowerPoint files. Adding captions transcripts and audio descriptions to multimedia.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including designers developers and project managers.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Current accessibility standards and regulations such as WCAG 2.x/3.0 Section 508 ADA and EN 301 549.
  • Industry practices best in digital accessibility inclusive design and usability testing.
  • Assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers voice recognition keyboard navigation tools) and their impact on user experience.
  • Knowledge of UX research methods such as wireframing prototyping user flows and usability testing. Understanding how accessibility integrates with UX/UI design interaction design and visual design principles.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop Illustrator XD) Figma or Sketch.
  • Familiarity with accessible color palettes typography contrast ratios and layout principles.
  • Understanding of how to integrate accessibility into design systems style guides and pattern libraries.
  • Understanding of how to translate brand guidelines into cohesive digital designs.

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Proficiency in Figma Adobe Acrobat Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG and ADA compliance standards.
  • Experience testing with assistive technologies (e.g. JAWS NVDA VoiceOver).
  • Familiarity with web technologies CMS platforms and responsive design principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving documentation and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to balance design creativity with accessibility and usability standards.
  • Strong understanding of user experience principles particularly for users with disabilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Duties:

  • Design and produce digital solutions for the CCAC website portal mobile app and other ITS platforms using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma.
  • Ensure all digital platforms comply with WCAG 2.2 and ADA accessibility standards conducting both automated and manual testing.
  • Provide consultation guidance and training to content owners and departments regarding accessibility best practices.
  • Maintain and update CCACs digital brand standards and accessibility checklists in collaboration with the web operations team.
  • Review and remediate PDFs and other digital documents for accessibility using Adobe Acrobat and related tools.
  • Test and validate accessibility using assistive technologies such as screen readers and keyboard navigation tools.
  • Collaborate with marketing ITS and content stakeholders to ensure brand and accessibility consistency across all platforms.
  • Identify and resolve accessibility barriers across digital platforms documenting solutions and maintaining process guidelines.
  • Participate in UX/UI reviews to ensure digital designs prioritize inclusive and user-centric experiences.
  • Support accessibility reviews of third-party tools and integrations used across the website portal and mobile app.
  • Communicate proactively with content owners to provide updates on accessibility improvements design changes and new digital resources.
  • Perform other related duties as required or as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide design and accessibility consultations for faculty staff and administrators in relation to digital content including the website internal portal and mobile application.
  • Create and maintain user guides FAQs and knowledge base articles for accessibility and design standards.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of digital accessibility policies style guides and design systems.
  • Maintain the colleges Flipping Book software.
  • Advocate for inclusive design principles in branding content strategy and user interface development.
  • Participate in accessibility-related professional networks conferences and forums to share knowledge and insights.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position will be required to report to any CCAC location to provide the necessary support.
