Main Purpose of Job
In order to facilitate RICA-Baltimores mission and insure our program is family driven and youth guided the main purpose of this position is to oversee and manage the operations of the Dietary Services of RICA-Baltimore and oversee the provision of nutrition clinical and educational services to the clients of RICA-Baltimore.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties assigned to this position include but are not limited to:
  • Plans and executes clinical nutrition care services to include nutrition screening nutritional history and assessment and appropriate plan of care in order to meet the specific nutritional needs of each client. Advises the interdisciplinary team on the food habits and other nutritional concerns of the clients to assist in their overall clinical treatment. Plans implements and documents nutrition education activities to teach students about good nutrition practices and to involve the school faculty and the facility staff in activities to enhance the program in compliance with the Child Nutrition Program requirements.
  • Completes the Monthly Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Meal Reimbursement Report and submits to MDH-BHA to initiate financial reimbursement. Completes and submits annual Child Nutrition Program Reports. Processes all Meal Benefit Applications yearly and as students are admitted. Maintains Child Nutrition Reimbursement in a readily available and organized manner as required by the Department of Education for review in the MSDE Audit every three years. Provides orientation to new employees on approved meal components meal check-off procedures menus diets special nutritional needs of children and adolescents and on the (CNP). Facilitates the annual mandatory Civil Rights Training to dietary and education staff as required by the Child Nutrition Program. Completes the annual on-site monitoring with written report of another MDH CNP site.
  • Develops and maintains effective policies and procedures to assure compliance with and satisfactory performance of all dietary requirements. Establish a Quality Improvement Program to assure provision of quality service.
  • Interprets physicians prescriptions for diets and nutritional supplements plans the diets and monitors the service of the nutritional supplements to assure compliance with the prescribed diet therapy.
  • Maintains nutrient analyses of menus to assure adequacy compliance with Child Nutrition Program requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Determined by the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice under the licensing requirements for Nutritionists and Dietitians.

Experience: Five years of experience providing professional nutrition or dietetic services which includes three years in a residential or hospital setting and two years managing a clinical and administrative phase of a dietetic program.

Notes:1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college or university in the field of dietetics nutrition institutional administration or other related fieldfor up to one year of the required experience.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Dietitian and Nutritionist classifications or Dietitian and Nutritionist specialty codes in the Dietitian field of work on a year-for-yearbasis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Desired candidates should have experience providing nutrition or dietetic services in a school setting working with children and experience overseeing lower-level Registered Dietitians and other professional food service and support staff.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Dietitian/Nutritionist from the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice.

2. Candidates for positions in this classification must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) prior to completion of probationary period and must maintain a current registration during their time of employment. Candidates who are currently registered should submit proof of CDR registration with application.
