Job Title: Diesel Mechanic (Temp-to-Perm)
Department: Fleet Maintenance
Schedule: Full-Time Monday Friday
Pay Range:$28$30/hour (Based on Experience Certifications & Education)

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic for a temp-to-perm opportunity within our Fleet Department. We are looking for a dependable and skilled mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair abilities for both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles. Candidates with experience working on fire trucks sanitation trucks and diesel-powered fleet equipment are highly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have 35 years of hands-on mechanic experience though candidates with a minimum of 23 years of solid experience will also be considered. We welcome highly experienced candidates and will review compensation expectations on a case-by-case basis based on overall qualifications certifications and expertise.

• Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes tire rotations brake inspections and fluid replacements
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines hydraulic systems electrical systems and automotive A/C systems
• Inspect troubleshoot and repair engines transmissions brakes and mechanical components
• Replace worn or damaged parts including belts hoses filters brake pads and related components
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and shop tools safely and effectively
• Assist supervisors and senior mechanics with advanced repairs and maintenance tasks
• Maintain accurate service records including parts used and labor completed
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean organized work environment
• Ensure repairs are completed efficiently and according to departmental standards

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 23 years of hands-on mechanic experience required
• 35 years of diesel engine repair experience preferred
• Experience with both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles preferred
• Experience working on fire trucks and sanitation trucks strongly preferred
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret diagnostic equipment and repair manuals
• Experience using hand tools lifting devices and diagnostic equipment
• Automotive apprenticeship technical training and/or certifications preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to work under supervision and follow instructions
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Must provide basic tools and toolbox
• Comfortable working in a garage/workshop environment

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including climbing bending kneeling crouching lifting and standing for extended periods
• Ability to lift carry push and pull materials weighing between 20100 lbs
• Continuous hand and arm movement required throughout shift
• Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
• Exposure to heat humidity cold dust fumes noise odors construction materials and inclement weather
