Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team in Asheville NC. The ideal candidate will have strong experience diagnosing repairing and maintaining diesel-powered equipment trucks trailers and heavy construction machinery. This position plays a critical role in ensuring fleet reliability safety compliance and operational uptime.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on diesel trucks heavy equipment and fleet vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical hydraulic pneumatic and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Repair and replace engines transmissions brakes suspension systems steering components and fuel systems
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards
- Troubleshoot electrical systems wiring sensors and electronic control modules (ECMs)
- Maintain accurate service records repair documentation and parts usage logs
- Respond to emergency repair needs in the field when necessary
- Inspect equipment for operational readiness and identify potential mechanical failures proactively
- Collaborate with operations and fleet management teams to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Technical school or diesel mechanic certification preferred
- 3 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred
- Experience working on heavy trucks utility equipment construction equipment or fleet vehicles
- Strong understanding of diesel engines hydraulics electrical systems and diagnostics
- Experience using OEM diagnostic software and scan tools preferred
- Valid drivers license required; CDL is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying outdoor conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Experience
- CAT Cummins Detroit Diesel International Freightliner Peterbilt Kenworth or Volvo equipment experience
- Utility construction or heavy civil construction industry experience
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Experience maintaining trailers compressors generators and support equipment preferred
