Registered Nurse Dialysis

Unit Overview:

Dialysisunit services all inpatients that require hemodialysis therapeutic plasma exchange or plasmapheresis during their hospital admission; either within the department and/or critical care areas. Dialysis services are available as needed 24/7.

Shift: Full-time 1st Shift

Job Description:

  • The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as awhole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

  • Nursingpractices are based on evidence and current research as well as hospital and department policies andprocedures regulatory standards and professional guidelines.

  • Clinical decision-making incorporates all fourphases of the nursing process critical thinking and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines.

  • The Registered Nurse is an exemplarfor compassion acceptance respect and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting anenvironment focused on healing and wellness.

  • As a clinical nurse this individual spends majority of his/hertime (> 50%) coordinating ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provisionof nursing rounds assessments and treatments; facilitating admission transfer and discharge activities;provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning asapplicable etc.

Minimum Education Experience Training and Licensures Required:

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.

  • Bachelors or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.

  • Basic life support must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.

  • Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelors degree program and musthave achieved the degree within 5 years.
