General Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including routine radiography (e.g. chest extremities spine abdomen).
- Position patients correctly to obtain optimal diagnostic images while ensuring comfort and safety.
- Operate and maintain radiographic equipment in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
- Apply radiation protection principles (ALARA) to minimize patient and staff exposure.
- Review physician orders and patient history to determine appropriate imaging protocols.
- Ensure proper patient identification and informed consent procedures.
- Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or medical emergencies.
- Evaluate images for quality and repeat studies when necessary to ensure diagnostic value.
- Maintain accurate documentation in PACS RIS and electronic medical record systems.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with radiologists nurses and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
- Participate in quality assurance equipment calibration checks and continuing education activities.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (R).
- Current state licensure (as required by state regulations).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of radiographic positioning anatomy physiology and radiation physics.
- Ability to operate imaging equipment and related software systems.
