Dev Harnessing Technician II, Amazon Leo DevOps

Join the Amazon Leo DevOps team as an Aerospace Harnessing Technician to support the fabrication integration and testing of electrical harnesses for spacecraft and aerospace systems. This role involves working closely with engineering manufacturing and quality teams to ensure harness assemblies meet stringent aerospace standards for performance reliability and safety. We welcome candidates from aerospace harness build backgrounds as well as those coming from aircraft maintenance or military aviation technician roles the fundamentals of wire harness maintenance and rework translate directly to building harnesses from the ground up. Youll work in partnership with Lab Engineers to execute clearly defined tasks contribute to lab upkeep and identify opportunities to improve process safety and efficiency.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
Read and interpret wiring diagrams schematics and engineering drawings to assemble harnesses accurately.
Fabricate harnesses using crimping soldering lacing shielding and connector assembly techniques per IPC/WHMA-A-620 and aerospace standards.
Perform electrical testing including continuity insulation resistance and hipot testing and accurately document results.
Inspect harnesses for workmanship quality and compliance with specifications.
Maintain build records travelers and inspection logs in accordance with company and industry requirements.
Apply knowledge of industry and internal standards to identify missing or ambiguous information in work instructions or designs; proactively communicate gaps to engineers or lab leadership and provide recommendations to improve processes and procedures during development.
Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
Follow ESD FOD and cleanroom protocols as required.
Operate and maintain harness fabrication tools test equipment and measuring devices.
Support lab organization tool tracking material staging and cleanliness efforts (6S).
Escalate work blockers and collaborate to develop workarounds under ambiguous situations.
Engage in continuous learning and support new procedure development with Lab Engineers/lab management.


A day in the life
The Dev Harnessing Technician will work closely with Lab Engineers design engineers and quality teams to build and test flight and development harness assemblies in a fast-paced start-up-like environment. Day to day this means moving between build stations and test benches fabricating harnesses to drawing running continuity and hipot checks and documenting results while staying ready to shift priorities as test teams need support. The successful candidate is comfortable working from complex drawings catching ambiguity in work instructions before it becomes a build issue and communicating clearly with engineers when something doesnt look right.

About the team
The Amazon Leo DevOps team builds and maintains the specialized labs and technical infrastructure that support prototyping development builds and qualification testing of satellite hardware. The harnessing lab is a core part of that mission producing flight and test harnesses that support the full arc of hardware development. - High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of hands-on experience building maintaining or repairing aerospace defense or other high-reliability wire harnesses including experience gained through aircraft maintenance or military aviation technician roles.
- Demonstrated proficiency with crimping tools soldering equipment heat-shrink applications and harness lacing/taping gained through fabrication rework or field repair of wire harnesses.
- Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or MIL-SPEC harness requirements gained through hands-on application in a build maintenance or rework environment.
- Experience with hipot testers milliohm meters and other harness test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams schematics and engineering drawings and execute assigned build tasks with minimal oversight.
- Ability to lift 4050 lbs unassisted stand for extended periods work in tight spaces and safely handle ESD-sensitive components.

- IPC/WHMA-A-620 IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification.
- Prior experience in satellite spacecraft or other aerospace harness assembly.
- Experience providing process feedback to engineering on harness design tooling or fixturing.
- Knowledge of ESD and FOD prevention best practices in a cleanroom or controlled environment.
- Comfort working from ambiguous or evolving procedures in a fast-paced development setting.

The starting pay for this position is listed below including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
