Design Specialist Electric Distribution

At ENTRUST Solutions Group we partner with leading utilities to design and deliver the safe reliable infrastructure that powers communities. Were growing our Electric Projects & Programs team and are looking for a Design Specialist to support our work with CenterPoint Energy in the Houston area.

What Youll Do

As a Design Specialist youll play a hands-on role in supporting electric distribution design projects from early planning through construction. Youll work closely with engineers project teams and our utility client to help deliver safe and reliable solutions.

In this role you will:

• Support overhead and underground electric distribution design projects for CenterPoint
• Use design tools and software to develop layouts drawings and construction-ready packages
• Assist with creating and maintaining plans specifications reports diagrams and engineering documentation
• Coordinate and manage permit submittals ensuring compliance with local requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams field personnel and client representatives to ensure project success
• Help manage workload timelines and project deliverables across multiple assignments
• Conduct field visits site investigations and data collection to support design accuracy (up to 20% travel)
• Support construction coordination including verification and issue resolution in the field

What Were Looking For

• Experience supporting electric distribution design drafting or CAD-based design work
• Proficiency with AutoCAD O-Calc and/or SPIDACalc (or similar design tools)
• Experience working with GIS or mapping systems
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% for fieldwork and client coordination

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Associates or Bachelors degree in engineering technology drafting/design or a related field
• Additional certifications or technical training related to utility or infrastructure design
• Experience working with electric utilities or supporting client-driven projects
• Distribution Design Studio (DDS)
