Design Engineer Electric Distribution

Were looking for a Design Engineer to join our growing Electric Distribution Design team supporting some of the largest utility providers in the Northeast. Youll be part of a collaborative team where youll gain hands-on experience receive mentorship from experienced utility professionals and develop technical expertise in electric distribution system design.

As a Design Engineer I you will support the planning design and execution of electric distribution projects for utility clients throughout the Northeast.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepare engineering designs drawings calculations and technical documentation for electric distribution systems.
• Develop construction work packages and supporting design documentation.
• Utilize design software and GIS-based tools to create and maintain utility designs.
• Collaborate with project managers senior engineers designers and utility clients to support project delivery.
• Assist with field data collection and verification activities as needed.
• Support project schedules budgets and quality requirements.
• Participate in client meetings and gain exposure to utility standards and engineering practices.
• Learn and apply utility design standards company procedures and industry best practices.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment.

• Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Electrical Engineering preferred; related engineering disciplines will also be considered).
• Internship co-op or professional experience supporting electric utilities power delivery distribution design or related infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn electric utility design principles.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
• Familiarity with GIS platforms and mapping tools.
• Exposure to utility clients such as Eversource Rhode Island Energy National Grid or other electric utilities.
• Experience with tools such as ArcGIS Katapult or PoleForeman.
• Understanding of electric distribution systems utility construction practices or overhead/underground line design.

• This role primarily supports electric distribution engineering and design projects.
• Limited field work may be required (generally less than 10% of the role).
• Candidates must be able to satisfy client and project requirements including DOT drug testing when required for specific projects.
• This is a client-facing billable engineering position that offers exposure to a variety of utility programs and projects.

The base salary for this position ranges from $75000 to $80000 annually. The specific amount within this range will be influenced by the work location and various factors such as internal equity professional skills work experience and pertinent education or training.â
