The New York Post provides readers with the best in News Sports Pop Culture and Entertainment with signature wit irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 225 years The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print digital video audio app television and commerce.

The New York Post is looking for a creative versatile Design Editor (Tuesday - Saturday 11am-7pm) to join our fast-paced newsroom. If you have a passion for bold visuals a digital-first mindset and the skills to turn ideas into eye-catching designs this role is for you. As a key member of our Design Team youll help bring stories to life across digital and social platforms as well as print.

Responsibilities:

• Design compelling digital visuals including interactive infographics illustrations editorial print features animations for online and social composites and maps.

• Stay ahead of design trends tools and techniques to keep our visuals fresh relevant and competitive.

• Collaborate with the Lead Design Editor and Sr. Design Editors to develop innovative graphic concepts that align with the Posts bold brand identity.

• Work closely with editorial teams to integrate text and visuals seamlessly enhancing storytelling whether digitally or in print.

• Generate fresh ideas for visual storytelling with a strong focus on engaging digital content.

• Prioritize multiple projects efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop Illustrator InDesign After Effects) and design tools such as Flourish and MapCreator.

• A digital-first approach with ability to create designs for web mobile and social platforms; Solid foundation in print design techniques is also necessary.

• Exceptional sense of typography layout and visual and information hierarchy.

• Create charts and visualizations from complex datasets such as financial reports press releases etc and distill information for general audiences.

• Ability to think creatively and strategically under tight deadlines.

• Passion for news sports viral content pop culture and emerging digital trends.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• A portfolio showcasing a range of design work especially digital projects.

• Willingness to work on weekends and holidays as needed.

• Basic coding knowledge (HTML CSS JAVA)

Note: The New York Post adheres to an on-site work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 5 days per week.
