Job Summary
Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) is a regional wastewater treatment agency and wholesale distributor of imported water serving approximately 950000 people across 242 square miles in western San Bernardino County. The Agency provides wastewater treatment recycled water groundwater recharge composting and imported water services through a large and complex regional utility system. IEUA is governed by a five-member Board of Directors has projected revenues and other funding sources of $509 million for FY 2026/27 a Ten-Year Capital Improvement Plan totaling $1.6 billion and 387 budgeted full-time and limited-term staff.
Reporting to the General Manager the Deputy General Manager assists in planning organizing directing and evaluating the Agencys operations services and strategic initiatives with primary oversight of the Technical Resources Division. This executive role provides leadership across operations maintenance engineering construction laboratory services regulatory compliance asset management and planning to help ensure the Agencys programs and services effectively meet member agency and customer needs.
IEUA is seeking a strategic collaborative and business-minded executive who can help lead a technically sophisticated utility organization through complex operational regulatory and capital planning challenges. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience across multidisciplinary teams sound judgment political acumen and the ability to work effectively with executive leadership the Board member agencies regulators and staff.
Requires a bachelors degree in business administration public administration environmental science engineering or a closely related field; a masters degree is preferred; at least 15 years of progressively responsible management experience leading multiple departments and multidisciplinary teams including at least 5 years in senior management within a public agency or private firm. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California is highly desirable. Experience in the water and wastewater industry is preferred.
Salary: $288000 to $351000
