Network Deployment Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and execution-driven Network Deployment Engineer to support the implementation and deployment of network infrastructure within enterprise and data center environments. This role is responsible for executing Method of Procedures (MOPs) performing network configuration changes validating performance and ensuring seamless service continuity during maintenance windows.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on expertise across Layer 1 3 technologies including physical infrastructure switching routing and high-availability configurations and thrives in fast-paced high-impact deployment environments.

Key Responsibilities

Network Deployment & Change Execution

• Execute network deployments installations and change activities in accordance with approved MOPs.
• Perform routing switching transport configurations device installations and service-impacting activities in production environments.
• Validate pre-deployment and post-deployment conditions to ensure stability and adherence to acceptance criteria.
• Configure and deploy VLANs (trunk and access ports) port-channels and spine-leaf architectures.
• Implement and validate dynamic routing protocols including BGP and OSPF.
• Configure and support high-availability solutions such as HSRP to maintain network uptime.
• Perform deployment configuration and validation on Cisco Nexus switches in data center environments.
• Utilize MAC address tables ARP tables and spanning tree topology to ensure proper network functionality and convergence.

Bridge Operations & Deployment Communication

• Participate in maintenance and deployment bridges providing real-time updates and execution confirmation.
• Coordinate with engineers deployment leads and cross-functional teams to ensure visibility and alignment during deployments.
• Communicate technical status risks and issues including Layer 1 routing and switching challenges.
• Escalate deployment risks failures or deviations to leadership in a timely manner.

Deployment Accuracy & Documentation

• Execute MOPs with strict adherence and provide feedback on improvements or risks identified during deployments.
• Capture detailed deployment records including timestamps command outputs and validation results.
• Validate rollback procedures and assist in service restoration when needed.
• Interpret and deploy solutions based on network design documentation and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Ensure accurate installation of hardware components including optics (QSFP/SFP) and cabling infrastructure.

Troubleshooting & Deployment Support

• Perform real-time troubleshooting during deployments when expected results are not achieved.
• Diagnose Layer 1 3 issues including:
  • Fiber vs. copper connectivity issues
  • Multimode vs. single-mode fiber mismatches
  • VLAN spanning tree and port-channel misconfigurations
  • Routing adjacency issues (BGP/OSPF)
• Troubleshoot HSRP failover behavior and Nexus-specific configurations (e.g. interfaces port-channels).
• Identify and resolve hardware and connectivity issues including transceivers (QSFP/SFP) and cabling faults.
• Escalate complex technical challenges to engineering or Tier 3 support teams. Quality & Continuous Improvement
• Provide feedback to engineering teams to improve deployment procedures and MOP quality.
• Identify recurring issues across deployments and recommend process improvements.
• Support alignment between network design BOM and deployment execution to minimize risk.

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Layer 1 networking including:
  • Fiber vs. copper cabling
  • Multimode (MM) vs. single-mode (SM) fiber
  • Transceivers (QSFP SFP)
• Solid knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking including:
  • MAC address tables and ARP tables
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
  • VLANs (trunk vs. access ports)
  • Port-channels / link aggregation
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus platforms and data center deployments.
• Experience with HSRP (Hot Standby Router Protocol) or similar redundancy technologies.
• Experience with spine-leaf network architectures.
• Hands-on experience with routing protocols (BGP and OSPF).
• Experience executing MOPs (Method of Procedure) in production environments.
• Familiarity with network design documentation and BOMs.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in high-pressure deployment windows including after-hours maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large-scale enterprise or data center deployments.
• Prior CUT / maintenance window execution experience.
• Exposure to multi-vendor environments (Cisco Arista Juniper).
• Experience with Nexus-specific features (e.g. vPC) is a plus.

Work Environment

• Requires participation in after-hours overnight or scheduled maintenance windows.
• Fast-paced deployment-focused environment with high expectations for accuracy and uptime.
