Assists in providing dental care to pediatric patients by preparing treatment rooms taking x-rays assisting dentists and educating patients and parents.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Assists dentist in managing dental emergencies by maintaining CPR certification emergency drug and oxygen supply and emergency telephone directory.
  • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentists access; suctioning; passing instruments.
  • Provides materials by selecting mixing and placing materials on instruments and in the patients mouth.
  • Educates patients by giving oral hygiene plaque control and postoperative instructions.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.

Education Requirement:

Graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience required.


Licensure Requirement:

Current license to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio required.


Certifications:

Board Certified inExpanded Function Dental Auxiliary in State of Ohio required.


Skills:

  • Robust communication skills required.
  • Demonstratedability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
  • Possesses good manual dexterity.
  • Abilityto monitor nitrous oxide and patient after analgesia is administered.

Experience:

Two years of experience as a chairside assistant required.
