A Brief Overview
The analyst is responsible for building maintaining and administration of the various FP&A and Financial Decision Support systems. Conducts various types of routine and ad hoc reporting including financial statements labor and productivity financial benchmarking and dashboard development. Assists in developing and refining methodologies and metrics that provide operational insight to leaders within the organization. Provides information dissemination to decision makers to support ongoing business operations the implementation of improvement initiatives and the education of clinical and non-clinical operational leaders. Provides significant support to the Finance Business Partner team and advancing FP&A team initiatives.

Essential Functions

System Data and Maintenance:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the flow of data throughout the FP&A and Decision Support systems
  • Support system workflow improvement opportunities through researching system functionality making recommendations and serving as the technical lead for implementation of approved changes including loading and processing of the data
  • Audit and reconcile data to ensure integrity within the systems
  • Identifies researches and resolves technical problems to ensure the production of high quality data and ensure data integrity
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work with others to resolve data integrity issues Maintain setup of various dimension tables (i.e. department/account rollups hierarchies etc.) Process owner for statistical entry set-up and maintenance in financial systems and develops and maintains statistical data dictionary Cross functional collaboration with other departments to develop implement validate and maintain data integrity

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Understand financial statements measures available reports and analytical tools
  • Assimilate large quantities of data and be ale to interpret and Audit output
  • Utilize the FP&A and Decision Support systems to create and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports/dashboards
  • Troubleshoot and debug data reports
  • Query and analyze financial data
  • Build metrics and/or other reporting capabilities to Support the organization
  • Recommends and develops standard processes templates and training programs to improve the quality of data the analytics and reporting across the organization.
  • Prepares training curriculum for end users including developing and maintaining system user guides training materials and end user updates on system enhancements

Cost Accounting:

  • Develops basic understanding of cost accounting system methodologies and processes to support data integrity dimensions set-up/maintenance and monthly cost accounting close process as requested.
  • Provide analytical reporting and general business support to FP&A team Finance department and other stakeholders Assists in preparation and analysis of annual budgets labor benchmarking and productivity and pro-formas. Analyzes and explains trends and variances in statistics revenue expense capital expenditures and other related areas. Researches analyzes and synthesizes data from multiple sources into business information as directed Assists in revenue expense and expense saving opportunities Prepares and ensures timely submission of external surveys and accuracy of the data Prepares financial presentations as requested

Development:

  • Sustain personal and professional curiosity demonstrating a willingness to explore new knowledge and ideas to improve
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant data tools Maintain a working knowledge of Childrens Nebraska budgeting accounting billing and other applicable processes and policies
  • Regularly attend meetings/webinars related to FP&A and Decision Support systems
  • Educate the others on reporting capabilities of the FP&A and Decision systems
  • Communicate changes in reporting to the FP&A team and/or operational leaders
  • Investigate and recommend ways to enhance department processes and assist in the implementation


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business management healthcare finance or related field Required
  • Masters degree in business management healthcare finance or related field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in finance cost accounting or financial analysis with working knowledge in the application of finance technology and computer systems including operations forecasting and modeling analysis and budgeting Required and
  • 1-3 years experience in healthcare setting Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Windows environment
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of accounting and general finance theories and methodologies
  • Working knowledge of clinical data and hospital information systems
  • Ability to work independently to determine methods or procedures on new or special assignments
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of accounting and general finance theories and methodologies and ability to apply it to operations
  • Ability to organize and manage projects
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and identify priorities in a fast-paced highly visible environment
  • Strong people skills; ability to build relationships; collaborative and approachable
  • Experience with reporting tools and business intelligence tools
  • Identify and learn about the data structures that benefit reporting structure
  • Experience with Strata or similar finance tool
