Job Summary

Deburr Technicians are responsible for removing small imperfections (burrs) from machined metal parts. Our deburr technicians comply with customer and industry specifications to ensure the quality of machined parts. The Deburr Lead performs the regular duties of a deburr technician and is responsible for monitoring and motivating a group of employees toward achieving department FunctionsTo perform this job an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential the type of finish specified per work instruction to determine the amount of metal to be removed and examines the part for the acceptability of the finishOperates grinders and similar powered hand tools to remove burrs and blend or polish surfaces to correct minor machining errors; uses carbide burr tools to remove excess material from parts without causing damage to partsPerforms blending of metals including steel aluminum magnesium and titanium; possesses the ability to create radius on areas of parts by handPerforms work in compliance with prints and written specifications; selects appropriate methods and tools to comply with specsInspects equipment daily for damage; promptly reports issues to supervision and may enter work orders or communicate with maintenance personnel; inspects and replaces worn belts and grinding wheels; may perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on tools & equipment usedMay operate tumblers; loads & unloads tumbler hopper as neededMaintains a clean organized and safe work area and ensures others maintain the sameFollows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for actions and work productComplies with applicable manufacturing processes work procedures and supervisor instructionsAdheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safetyPerforms other job-related duties as assignedRegular attendance on-site at the workplace is requiredThis role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15):An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship orAn individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e. a Green Card holder) orAn individual who is granted status as a protected personRequired Education and Work ExperienceA High school diploma or GED equivalentA minimum of one (1) year of experience in a production/manufacturing role requiring the use of hand tools and material-handling equipment is preferred; recent vocational training in a metal-working or other technical role may be considered instead of work experienceOther Required Skills and AbilitiesExperience in reading and accurately interpreting shop blueprints technical drawings and customer specifications is requiredExperience using precision measuring instruments including mics and calipers is preferredExperience using powered electric and/or pneumatic hand tools including grinders or sanders is preferredAerospace manufacturing experience is advantageous!Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentTo perform the essential functions of the role employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility and stand for long periods to perform job dutiesRegularly lift carry (short distances) and push/pull up to 50 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material-handling equipmentOccasionally reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform dutiesOccasionally bend crawl stoop squat or kneelFrequently uses hands or fingers to manually inspect parts and operate tools and/or material handling controlsVisual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devicesWorking ConditionsWork is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:Excessive noise (hearing protection required)Dust smoke mist fumes/vapors (regularly)Extreme temperatures (occasionally)Hazardous equipment including forklifts hand tools cranes or other lifting devices and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (regularly)The use of PPE including hearing protection eye and hand protection and safety footwear is position is clasified as safety-sensitive.
