Job Summary
AECOMs Disaster Recovery Division is seeking Debris Specialists to join our team to develop our On-Call Cadre. The cadre is designed to build a roster of qualified candidates for temporary assignments. Placement is not immediate and will occur based on operational need.
Debris Specialists will be responsible for supporting post-disaster debris management and recovery operations. This position requires the ability to work in rapidly changing environments and travel to disaster affected areas. Candidates must be willing and available to deploy on short notice as needed.
The Debris Specialist duties include:
- Cost estimation and technical validation of projects. Conduct field monitoring and documentation of debris removal activities.
- Assist with debris site management operational reporting and monitoring of FEMA reimbursement requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance for compliance with project requirements and safety standards.
- Support compliance with applicable FEMA PA policies regulations or project procedures.
- Maintain professional communication with internal teams and clients.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency management procedures.
- Provide on-site support as needed.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Emergency Management Public Administration Planning or related field and 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
- Valid US drivers license and ability to travel to work sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to deploy when activated to support disaster response and recovery efforts.
- Knowledge of Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Assistance (FEMA PA) policy and familiarity with FEMA debris management operating procedures.
- Experience with debris handling hazardous materials debris forecasting and reimbursement practices related to debris removal.
- Experience with debris monitoring software and operational reporting tools.
- Completion or the ability to complete the required FEMA NIMS training for Debris Specialists.
- Strong organizational communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and extended hours as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in disaster-affected areas and navigate active debris operation sites while wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
