Job Summary
Responsibilities/Accountability:

The mission of Dillard University College of Nursing is to prepare caring courageous future nurse leaders who are ethical critical thinkers that communicate effectively and therapeutically respecting the diversity of people in all health care settings to improve the human condition.
2. Is accountable to nursing approval bodies the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) and nursing accrediting organizations Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
3. Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership inshort-and long-termplanning for the Collegeof Nursing.
- Be responsible for the general administration of the College.
- Plan incooperation with faculty the organizationand functioningof the curriculum to insure theadequacyand the effectiveness of the Colleges program ofstudy.
- Assist in the recruitment of faculty. Recommend faculty for employment in the College of Nursing.
- Aidthe University in the recruitment of students.
- Respond and make recommendations regarding the colleges budget received from the vice president for business and finance; assume responsibility for keeping the colleges expenditures within the approved budget.
- Investigate the availability of andapply for grant funds.
- Evaluate teacher effectiveness.
- Recommend to the VicePresident for Academic Affairssalary rank tenure retention and termination ofemployment in the College of Nursing.
- Facilitate the professional growth of faculty personnel within the College.
- Meet regularly with theFaculty and withnursing majors to discussmattersof importance.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of all College of Nursing standing committees.
- Enhance the overall public relations and developmental efforts of the academic unit.
4.Assume other duties as outlined in the DillardUniversity Faculty Handbook and the College of Nursing Faculty Handbookand bylaws. Govern the Nursing unit in accordance with the Louisiana State Board of Nursings full rules and regulations. Adhere to the standards of the College of Nursing accreditation agency.
Qualifications

- Masters degree in Nursing and an earned Doctorate in Nursing or related field.
- Progressive experience in nursingpractice; experience in teachingatan institutionofhigher learning; and credentialsof a professional nurse registered in theStateofLouisiana.
- RNlicensure in the StateofLouisiana orcompact licensure.
- Prior experience as a nursing education administrative or leadership role preferred.
Work Conditions
May require long hours sitting in front of a computer walking across campus and/or bending stooping and lifting up to 20 lbs.
Other:
The scope of the job frequently requires working in the evenings and on weekends.
