Overview:

We are seeking a database operations engineer to support the health performance and reliability of our database environments. Youll work cross functionally with several data/technology teams across the firm giving you real visibility into how data powers the this role you partner closely with senior members of the team monitoring performance supporting critical maintence and troubleshooting efforts through automation documentation performance tuning and data migration/disaster recovery efforts. • Helptroubleshootandresolvedatabase-relatedincidents
• Supportthecreationandmaintenanceofdatabasedocumentationrunbooksandstandardoperatingprocedures
• Assistwithuseraccessmanagementpermissionsandbasicsecurityconfigurations
• WriteandoptimizebasicSQLqueriesfordataretrievalreportingandtroubleshooting
• Participateinon-callrotationfordatabaseoperationssupport(withseniorbackup)
• Collaboratewithsoftwareengineersandanalyststosupportdataneedsacrossteams
• Helpidentifyopportunitiestoautomaterepetitiveoperationaltasks
• Learnandapplydatabaseperformancetuningfundamentals(indexingqueryoptimization)
• Assistwithdatamigrationreplicationanddisasterrecoverytestingefforts

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field or 3 years of equivalent practical experience
• Understandingofrelationaldatabaseconcepts(tablesindexeskeysnormalization)
• Familiarity with SQL and writing queries
• Exposure to at least one database platform (e.g. PostgreSQL SQL Server MySQL)
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and eagerness to learn
• Basic understanding of Linux/Windows operating systems
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
• Exposure to scripting languages (Bash PowerShell Python)
• Understanding of backup/recovery concepts
• Familiarity with monitoring tools
• Knowledge of version control (Git)
