Job Description: As a Senior Security Engineer specializing in Digital Asset Custody you will act as the technical authority responsible for designing and securing enterprise-grade custody platforms for digital assets. You will lead the architecture and implementation of secure key management systems policy enforcement mechanisms and resilient custody workflows while ensuring compliance with strict security and regulatory requirements. This role demands deep expertise in cryptographic systems distributed architectures and risk management along with the ability to influence technical direction and ensure the highest standards of security scalability and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement secure key management systems using HSMs MPC and advanced cryptographic techniques
Architect and manage secure processes for key generation storage rotation signing and recovery
Define and implement custody models including hot warm and cold wallet strategies
Lead the design and development of custody policy engines governing transaction approvals and controls
Translate regulatory legal and risk requirements into enforceable technical controls
Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies for custody systems including key recovery and failure scenarios
Create and manage incident response runbooks and lead post-incident analysis and remediation
Ensure high availability scalability and resilience across custody platforms and blockchain integrations
Identify and mitigate risks across custody architecture workflows and operational processes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen security posture and technical standards
Develop monitoring auditing and observability solutions to ensure transparency and traceability
Leverage AI-assisted tools to enhance system design threat modeling and engineering efficiency
Required Skills Experiences Education and Competencies:
10 years of software engineering experience with a focus on security or cryptographic systems
Strong hands-on experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and Multi-Party Computation (MPC)
Deep understanding of secure key management architectures and cryptographic principles
Experience with Web3 security tools and smart contract security analysis
Proficiency in programming languages such as C C Rust or Go for secure system development
Experience designing and supporting highly secure fault-tolerant distributed systems
Proven ability to lead architectural decisions in high-risk high-trust environments
Strong understanding of security frameworks zero trust principles and risk management strategies
Experience collaborating with security auditors and third-party security assessments
Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills
Ability to influence technical decisions and guide cross-functional teams
Experience with digital asset custody platforms or blockchain infrastructure (preferred)
Experience owning incident response and disaster recovery strategies (preferred)
Ability to articulate complex risk trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders (preferred)
Experience leveraging AI tools for engineering security analysis and automation (preferred)
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $70.00 to $90.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills experience location and industry.
