The Part Time Custodian/Facilities Technician I is responsible keeping premises of College building in clean safe and orderly condition by performing a variety of custodian duties. This position would be part-time and have a flexible schedule ranging from 15-20 hours per week.

Where we are
Columbia Gorge Community College serves a diverse region in north-central Oregon and south-central Washington. CGCC acknowledges we are on the homelands of the Confederated Tribe of the Yakama Nation and neighboring tribes as well as the 14 bands along the Inchi Iwana (Columbia River). Our main campus is within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in The Dalles Oregon. We also have a beautiful site in the city of Hood River.

Organizations like Comunidades The Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission Washington Gorge Action Programs and The Next Door are representative of the groups that span the Gorge area to provide community resources and leadership. Manufacturing technology and IT companies are expanding rapidly in the area which is home to companies such as Insitu Tofurky Cardinal Glass Sagetech HoodTech and Google. Portland is roughly an hour away with its various urban attractions and access to international travel.
What you will do
- Cleans dusts and polishes lighting fixtures horizontal and vertical surfaces pipes screens and handrails.
- Cleans rooms hallways lobbies lounges restrooms corridors elevators stairways and locker rooms and other work areas.
- Sweeps scrubs waxes and polishes floor surfaces manually or using power equipment.
- Clean carpets using power equipment or manually spot treating areas to accomplish task.
- Cleans or vacuums rugs carpets upholstered furniture and window coverings (blinds etc.).
- Dusts furniture and equipment and polishes metalwork.
- Washes walls whiteboards ceilings and woodwork. Washes windows sills door panels.
- Empties waste baskets trash cans recycle containers.
- Transports trash recycle materials and waste to disposal areas.
- Replenishes restroom supplies.
- Replaces light bulbs when needed.
- Performs basic maintenance and preventative maintenance on all fixtures and furniture.
- Use hand tools to plant dig weed trim and cut as necessary in the performance of the job.
- Uses hand tools to remove snow and ice from roads pathways and sidewalks
- Delivers messages transports small equipment or tools between departments. Sets up tables and chairs in classrooms boardrooms auditorium cafeteria etc. and for special events.
- Monitor equipment and appliances for energy efficiency including but not limited to: lighting projectors computers and other office and class. Set equipment and appliances into power save modes or off as necessary based on classroom and office needs
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring.
- Two years experience or any combination of education training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of floor scrubbing carpet shampooing and floor polishing equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the use of cleaning agents to include solvents disinfectants detergents and polishing agents.
- Must have knowledge of standard custodial practices procedures and techniques.
- Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
- Understanding and application of safe work practices.
- Must pass a background check.
- Experience promoting equity-minded and diversely represented communications and materials experience in responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
Minimum Requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Able to read write and interpret instructions written in English
