Job Summary
This part-time (no benefits) position within the Parks and Recreation Department performs manual custodial functions related to the care upkeep and preservation of City facilities and may provide support to other Facility Technician positions. Maintains a variety of floor coverings washes windows cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies moves office equipment and furniture replaces light bulbs maintains security of assigned building empties waste containers and removes all trash to disposal areas dusts and vacuums upholstered furniture. Cleans and maintains various buildings. Operates motor vehicle and drives to other City locations to haul and deliver supplies to conduct City business and to perform related work as requested. During winter weather the custodian removes snow and ice from sidewalks and entryways. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and one to two years related experience in custodial maintenance; or any combination of education training and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess a valid Drivers License. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire. Knowledge of general housekeeping proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals proper English usage including spelling grammar punctuation and vocabulary. Skill in using a wide range of hand and power tools and equipment various cleaning tools and machines and communicating clearly and effectively orally and in writing. Able to work as a team member in fulfilling the requirements to maintain City facilities in a clean and sanitary condition. Physical Demands: Regularly required to climb; bend body and legs; move about on hands and knees; use hands arms and fingers to reach handle seize hold grasp or turn objects and exert 50 to 100 pounds of forces occasionally or 25 to 50 pounds frequently or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to conditions such as fumes noxious odors dusts mists gasses and possible bodily injury from toxic or caustic chemicals moving mechanical parts or equipment tools or machinery.
